To me its their bandwagon base and not much to do with the dallas based fans. I have a friend on my fb that actually pulls for the cowboys and the colts. he only started pulling for the colts 7 years ago when dallas was playing bad. and those fans love to talk shite. My dallas friends that are dallas fans are pulling for the Saints next week and in fact some are coming down to new orleans to party with me.

I don't have a problem with Dallas fans from Texas but it sure seems to me that it's no coincidence that there are a shitload of Dallas fans in Louisiana and the Cowboys have been a historically good program and the Saints have sucked to say the least. (run-on sentence)
If there was a fair amount of Arizona Cardinal fans or Seattle Seahawk fans etc... I probably wouldn't question it. But you know damn well 90% jumped onto the banwagon because their own backyard team sucked.
The other 10% of Dallas fans like you said have some kind of ties to Texas, orginally from there, family memebers from there etc... and I don't have a problem with this.

i beleive it's just pure jealousy, all teams have band wagon fans Saints just have more of them if they make it to the super bowl, you will
think they invented football. Have always liked the cowboys win or lose and always will

People hate winners that are not from their "fandom" and the Cowboys won when most people on this site were in Grade School or Junior High
This is the answer for me. When I was becoming a sports fan, they were in the middle of their dominant run. As a byproduct of that in my formative years I learned a general rule: a guy walking around Baton Rouge in the 90s in a Cowboy starter jacket deserved a swift kick to the nuts.

Having lived in Dallas for 22 years and never really being a fan of the team (but liking several of the players), it is the a significant number of the fans that keep me from ever being a fan of the team.
The fans simply aren't very big fans of football. They are fans of the Cowboys only, yet they know little of any other team including the ones they are about to play.

In the 60's, 70's & 80's KSLA broadcast the Cowboys games because their broadcast coverage range encompassed more square miles in TX (as far west as Sulpher Springs, south to Palestine & Lufkin) than La.
Yeah, Lake Charles was lucky in the sense that we had two CBS stations: one in Beaumont and one in Lafayette. Had our choice each week of either game (or both) plus the Oilers on NBC. Ahhhh, glory days of pre-NFL Sunday Ticket viewing. Irv Cross, Jimmy the Greek, Brent Musberger, etc... It didn't get much better than that.
But, eventually FOX won the NFC contract. Then the fight started...

Even in western La. Shreveport is the only city that I'd say root for the Cowboys harder than the Saints
growing up in LC during the dynasty, the boys were more popular here

Add at least 30% if not more of the fans to be Mexicans in Texas and Mexico.
You will see them wearing that shite throughout the state.

They coined the phrase "The team you either love or hate". Its there p.r. department fault.

the fans and players live in the past
Why is it living in the past when the Cowboys success is talked about, and in 90% of the Saints fan's arguments talk about the playoff drought?
If you wanna live in the present... look at this years game. Dallas was a better team than NO in that game. simple as that.

This. I have no problem with Cowboys fans who were raised in Texas. I understand. I was a kid in the late 80's - when the Boys were pitiful and you never saw anyone in Cowboys gear or even talking about them. Jimmy Johnson turns the team around and suddenly you can't walk out your door without tripping over some redneck in an Aikman jersey.

..and having experienced non-Texan native Dallas bandwagon fans in Louisiana, New York, and now California, I can say in all honesty that they are some of the dumbest motherfrickers to ever draw breath

And what is that reason? Too successful? Hell, the Steelers have more Lombardis than Dallas. But I can see that, especially with the "glamor" factor. Proximity is important too, considering your audience here.
IMO, there are several reasons for this.
1. The Steelers are viewed as a blue-collar team.
2. The Steelers are on only their 3rd head coach in the last 30+ years.
3. The Steelers have not historically had the problems with players like the Cowboys have i.e. TO, Nate Newton, Michael Irvin etc.
4. The Steelers don't have that glitzy reputation like the Cowboys with a meddling owner/oil baron like Jerry Jones, the world famous Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders etc.
Don't get me wrong I like looking at the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders but there is something to be said for the Steelers being one of the few teams that don't have any.

Great job getting the team to the Division title and playoff win this year Wade. You deserve another year.
