Just let the teamnwith the best record in the reg season win a tiebreaker, ir whatever. Aggregate? Again, its soccer

You realize that this is a tournament that doesn't have a regular season, right?

Not a great analogy. Technically all teams in a tourney are competing against each other, even if not directly at that exact moment. Kinda like....golf.

You going to use group stage results as a tiebreaker in the knockout stage? That would be a horrible idea.

There are many different groups, some much stronger than others.

in the Champions League, you have to be at a certain level to get there. There's no team in the UEFA CL group stage that didn't deserve to be there

And the groups are seeded with Pot 1, Pot 2, etc.

Eagles won nfl with Tommy MacDonald, caught a lot of balls, and norm van brocklin. Got a kickoff return for TD. 1961?

Right before merger.
I count it.

What about the saints onside kick to start the second half of the Superbowl? Give the franchise their only championship to date.

the time left in the game matters... Though the onside kick was a great Super Bowl moment

Man I don’t know how I didn’t realize this sooner; but that isn’t even the most consequential trick play involving kicking a ball
