He left because they wouldn’t make the financial commitment needed to produce a national title. They didn’t understand this until later after their chance was gone.

The biggest thing Saban did for LSU was remove all the outsiders and political influencers out of the LSU football program that held LSU back.
He locked down the state which LSU hadn't done in a long time. He kept the good talent at home.
LSU politics tried to take the program back but bungled that and it eventually cost F King and Alleva their jobs.

He would have turned it around.
Everyone points to Michigan and Ohio State, but they weren’t the main culprit. It was Notre Dame. They owned the yearly rivalry with Sparty through 94. They stopped playing for two years, then in 97 Saban started a five year win streak

I think so. It would've been harder than LSU but in a 10 year span I would say yeah

No. Recruiting grounds not fertile enough in Michigan. Especially when scraping up leftovers behind osu and big brother Michigan. He knew that and it’s a big reason he came to LSU

He also had LSU invest in the program to take that step into the big leagues. Facilities, upgrades, staff salary and everything else you need to build the support system that can sustain a contender. Michigan State didn’t do that LSU did and the results came fast.

No. Michigan doesn't produce as similar recruits as Louisiana and Alabama. Michigan State is also the inferior school of the state.
Not to mention he'd be competing (and recruiting) against Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Notre Dame. That's no easy feat.
Point being, in terms of wins, there's a specific reason Michigan State is behind schools like Arkansas, Syracuse, Pitt, A&M, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, and West Virginia. They are a comparable program and/or not as good.

depends on the school giving him the resources to build the program the way he saw it needed to be built, like we did at LSU...

He didnt have the cache to ever out recruit Michigan and Ohio St.
Not the point dumbass.
LSU is nothing this century without Saban...pretty easy to figure out

There are a few coaches that could have turned LSU around with the fertile recruiting base and the only major university in the state.

Like who? And why didnt they do that before ?

Had LSU hired Spurrier in the late 80s/early 90s he could have. LSU interviewed him. And that’s just off the top of my head.
He wouldn’t have had to worry about FSU and Miami in his backyard. Had LSU hired Mack Brown from UNC there’s another.
What Saban did for LSU isn’t something I’m downplaying. But to say he’s the only one that could have done it, with the built in advantages, is asinine.
As to why no one did it before? .... shite hires.
We had the Gatorade National Player of the Year (Travis Minor) going to play at FSU in the late 90s. The kid was from Baton Rouge. His QB in high school was Major Applewhite. Louisiana has never lacked talent.

A better question is had Dodge not redesigned the Charger would Nick Saban have ever won a championship

Sure...he was one of the all time great coaches just like Saban.

I believe your state averages around 15 blue chippers a year and the population ain't growing and I get the per capita and Tulane angle.
Georgia averages around 35+ and Florida almost 50

Wait, are you saying you don’t think Spurrier would have turned around LSU? I just want to be clear...
You did, with your dumbass rhetorical “like who?” comment.
Florida produces 50 blue chips!!! Wow! Divide 50 by 3 (Miami, UF, FSU) and you get 16.6.
Georgia has 35!!!! OMG!!!! Divide it by 2 (UGA, GT) and you get 17.5.
LSU has the entire state so even if they only spit out 15 a year, according to your metrics, it’s not far off ...
But please continue on with Saban is the only one who could have built LSU...
