Goodell has a habit of "finding evidence" that no one else has seen or ever does see

At this point neither side can produce "new evidence", according to the CBA the facts are what the arbitrator established

Honestly if he is out for there year, smart on Cleveland. They can tank and then get high draft picks that they don’t have to waste on taking a chance on a QB. They can go need or BPA.

Deshaun Watson's conduct is a PR disaster. He's a pervert and predator. If you don't police this stuff the league will be full of Pacman Jones in short fashion entering strip clubs and making it rain.

If I’m not mistaken 2 separate jurisdictions couldn’t indict him for the accusations against him. Is this a PR mess? Yes, regardless of one thinks of the accusations’ veracity. Tbh, I really would agree with a year suspension given the gravity of this situation and NFL’s need to protect its reputation. The NFL is a business and it has a right to do this but it’s botched these things so publicly and blatantly in the past that they make everything worse.

So either you can't prove he did anything wrong (as a court of law found) or you can

Read the ruling. Civil courts and the suspension process have a different burden of proof (preponderance of evidence) than a criminal grand jury. Same reason people can get acquitted of a crime but convicted in a civil suit.

damn, this shite still isn't over with.

The silver lining here though is I think more and more people are beginning to realize how disingenuous Goodell really is.

he is absolutely rotten to the fricking core.

I think Goodell has the blessing of the other owners to bring the hammer on Watson bc they were pissed at how Cleveland structured his contract to where he wouldn’t lose much money this season if he was suspended.

and you think no other teams had this same
strategy when trading for a player that has a guaranteed but undetermined suspension in the future?

What about to indict someone? Probable cause doesn’t exactly require beyond reasonable doubt to occur

I’m starting to think this was fixed. The preposterously light sentence and then the commissioner coming in saying it’s too soft. Feels like a way to get a 10 game suspension or something and have people thinking it was actually a reasonable compromise. And the NFL gets to look like the good guy.

frick Goodell, "I really want to punish you" is his motto I guess. He's always going on overkill on these so-called punishments, he can't be satisfied with Watson losing 6 games' pay, that's a lot of F'ng money that Watson is losing along with all the civil suits. But nooo, he wants the whole season for the guy! Smh It's fricking ridiculous, if this is real life Watson isn't being docked a whole year's worth of pay by the company that he works for. If you're found not guilty or guilty you probably get probation and community service along with psychiatric therapy and so on. But you continue working, you aren't suspended a whole damn year.

No telling what the suspension would be if we were talking about an active Sean Payton.

That's not why the owners were pissed, most have done it several times to "help" players about to get suspended. The owners are pissed because at the same time Clev reset the QB market rate & made it 100% guaranteed. The NFL wants to avoid those guarantees as much as possible so they can keep making splash headlines with contracts they have no intention of keeping the player through.

In regards to Goodell saying he has the evidence; I don't believe him. 2 jurisdictions and an arbitrator have essentially said the evidence is either not strong enough or not there. But, it would not be the first time RG made some sort of fabricated statement about having some sort of evidence that does not exist

(Disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson) was very clear about the evidence, she reinforced the evidence...there were multiple violations here, and they were egregious and it was predatory behavior.''- Roger Goodell.

I know there wasn’t a trial or an acquittal. But a grand jury heard the prosecutor’s case and didn’t indict him. That’s close enough to saying a court of law didn’t find enough evidence of wrongdoing.

At the end of the day what I hear the NFL saying is mass rapes are worth more than 6 games but not more than a year. Even though I think he’s a piece of shite, I don’t like the idea of a court saying I did nothing proveable wrong and my job saying hold on a minute.
