OK, so you're just talking out of your arse. Gotcha.

Inside-Square-Inside. Swinging to right field is wrong.

Thanks for playing though

Im not telling him to swing to right field. Im telling him to bring his backswing in, because I can promise that its currently way outside.

Ya, sounds like you are getting the club face back to square but due to a sweeping motion thats caused by an outside in swing the ball has a lot of spin put on it that causes it to slice.

Strengthen your left hand on the grip, twist it a bit to the inside. Should help close the face at impact.

Your clubface is pretty square at impact if it's starting straight, but your path is coming from the outside.

There is a multitude of things that can cause that.

A couple of the common ones are snatching the clubhead inside on your takeaway, or your shoulders turning on a flat plane.

Try putting a ball directly behind the ball you're going to hit, and push it straight back with the clubhead. Long and low takeaway.

Just exaggerate dropping the club to the inside. Take the clubhead straight back to a little outside, and drop it in. Almost a figure 8, or just try to drive your right elbow to your right hip

Telling him to take his clubface inside isn't going to fix it. In all likelihood, that's the problem. Takes it inside, gets stuck behind the body. Better player tends to hook it from that position. Most clear their bodies, and club face never releases.

And telling anybody to ever roll their wrists at impact is unbelievably wrong

Have you ever actually played golf? Thats what happens when you hit a draw. Your right hand comes of the top of your left at impact causes the club face to close down.

Nope, never touched a club.

It's called releasing the club with your body. But good luck to anyone trying to roll their wrists at impact. It works for Bubba Watson, Couples, and guys with great hand eye and timing.

Higher handicaps will just sit there and flip it and have no consistency whatsoever

if this were happening the ball would be going right from the beginning. that is not happening in this case.

and about the "dont roll your rists over" comment, im just going to do a face palm on that one.

make sure to keep your right elbow close to your body. not so close that it's uncomfortable though. the idea is to keep the club on a straight or inside out plane to the ball.

also try strengthening your grip. not squeezing, but turning your hands slightly on the grip. in the pic below the three grips shown in order are: Strong, normal, weak. a stronger grip will naturally make the club face close through impact.

otherwise a lesson is always good.

The thought of an inside out swing is incorrect

I think most all good golfers should be swinging left of the target at impact and certainly immediately after impact (at least in terms of swing path).

For a slicer, fix the grip first. Get the heel pad of your left hand (the meaty part of your hand that is beneath your pinky) on top of the club when you grip it. That should help get the clubface in a better position at impact.

Swinging inside out won't matter one bit if his grip is really weak. I can swing inside out and still hit a massive slice.

The inside moves the outside. If you turn hard with your body, sheer psychics will release the club correctly.

The butt of the club should be continuing to move left through impact

im sorry but this is not true. yes clearing your body is important to swinging correctly but you must also release the club "rotate the rists" so that the face is square at impact.
