Golf board members are pissed about their scores from last weekend. That, and it's an awesome day and everybody would rather be golfing.
I repeat, golfing.

I finally got my drive going straight but am only hitting it to the 175 mark. Which is depressing because my brother got his first set of clubs last week and is destroying me in every aspect of golf.
Also all my irons are landing at 125. Absolutely no difference between the 4-7 but the 8/9 are doing their job.
Play the yellow tees.

Keys to Distance:
1) Create Width in your back swing (hands as far away from your body as possible without distorting your posture)
2) Swing faster --not harder. swing through the ball, not "at" the ball.
3) Flush contact...hitting it in the center of the face maximizes how far it can go
4) it helps to be naturally strong, but you don't have to be hercules.

After you hit it, step back a few steps.
I just helped you gain 2–3 yards

When people say swing speed they are kinda wrong. Take away spread and all doesn't matter.
It's mostly about speed in the impact area

This is exactly right. Everyone talks about how smooth Couples looks, and Ernie looks.
For 19 inches, that clubhead is traveling 120mph, and hence, a lot of people try to have flash hand speed at the bottom and flip it, which requires a ton of timing

Incorporate your shoulders and torso. Most newer players swing with all arms casuing their swing to be out of wack with no distance and wayward shots.
I don't swing hard because my swing is more of a tempo swing and I have no problems with distance.

Shoulder rotation and your hand position/hips right before impact are huge. It really doesn't matter if you take it back to parallel as long as you have sound shoulder rotation. For example, UGA had a guy about 5 years ago that was longer than Bubba, he was about 5'8/9 160 lbs
ETA: Try keeping a golf glove in your left armpit when you swing and don't let it fall out. It'll teach you to rotate through the ball and use your arms less

Make sure u are shifting your weight from inside right foot to left toe... move towards the target.

Explaining how to shift your weight to someone new to the game often causes swaying, which will cause him to spray it all over the damn place
. You're right though

I'm over 60 yo and I weigh 150. I consistently hit drives 250 although the direction is horrible. I have really cheap used clubs.
I have never taken a lesson. Never practice. I was a baseball player and adapted some physics ideas from batting.
I tee the ball up high. Take a very long slow back swing and then get totally violent on the fore swing. I essentially screw myself into the ground.
It won't improve your score but it feels great when you it square. Just like the sweet spot on a baseball bat.
Hit a drive 320 at Crooked Hollow last week. My partners were amazed but they both scored better than me because I only hit the fair way 3 times during the round.

I think Hercules had -2 handicap. Dude could get up and down from just about anywhere on the course.

Yep. But, Hey, why not?
Is the point to score lower and make the PGA tour? Hell no. It's to hit the crap out of the ball.
When I was in my 20s I took the same approach to tennis. It was great. I either aced you on the serve or I doubled faulted. But you weren't gonna hit it back, Jack.

Hercules was also a master from the green side bunkers. He was used to playing courses that had alot of sand.
