Ohio state will now roll and beat every team from here on out by 35+ and we’ll have to hear all year how Notre Dame has a great close loss against them in week 1. ND will be something like 9-1 and ranked 5th in the first playoff seeding all because of this game. Rinse and repeat Notre Dame every year.

Is this the thread where we pretend ND has had tons of recent success against top 2 teams on the road?

Tommy Rees said he watched every NFL play this off season. Wondering if it was from the 1998 NFL season.

How often do interims ever pan out? Just don’t get not having a search.

But the players jumped up and down when he and the strength coach stayed.

This is the one knock on Freeman. Rees is a shite play caller, can’t develop QB’s, and is a shite recruiter. No one held a gun to his head and forced him to keep him because he was already OC due to nepotism from the previous staff. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Guy isn’t qualified to be OC of a JV HS team.

He punted down 11 with 4 minutes left. Big yikes on that decision.

No doubt a coach like Freeman is playing the spread as much as he’s playing the other team. You go for it there and Ohio State covers.

No. Notre Dame doesn’t get that excuse because, according to their fans, Brian Kelly was holding them back in big games.

They lost by double digits to a ranked team. No leeway granted.

Kelly’s offense blows goats. Too finesse. Can’t run the ball when needed vs good teams. It will be his downfall at LSU. And I’m an LSU fan.

Freeman can’t be much worse than Kelly in big games since Kelly was pretty awful.

So did Dabo Sweeney, who has won two. But the exceptions don’t prove the rule.

Furthermore, Les Miles won a national championship at LSU. So the fact that two mouth breathers who can’t speak in complete sentences, not eat grass and/or keep their shorts on, is more a testament to the program than any coaching acumen of a former interim coach.

We’ll see. He also made Notre Dame nationally relevant on an almost annual basis for the first time since Lou Holtz retired.

And yet Notre Dame fans think he was holding them back. They scored 10 points tonight and while Ohio State has great players, they’ve been known more for offense than defense in the last decade.

Clearly people don't really think they are the #5 team in the nation if they were 17-point underdogs. Not a terrible showing, but a pretty pathetic 2nd half again by Freeman in his 2nd game as coach.

That wasn't a Brian Kelly problem. The same thing happened under Weis, Willingham, and Davie.

The only legitimate things to criticize Kelly for during his time at ND were his laziness at times during recruiting and a few coaching hires (Van Gorder and Rees, specifically). The latter happens with everyone, though. Saban hired his pal Doug Marrone last year and he was a shite OL coach.

You can't say that. I'm not sure what the power rankings are, but what would you put the line at if Texas A&M were on the road at Ohio St? They're number 6
