It’s pretty obvious that the sole reason for Belichick’s coaching success is due to his once in a lifetime football mind. If a musician is around Bob Dylan every day for five years, it doesn’t mean they’ll be able to write brilliant lyrical songs like him. Belichick and Dylan have god-given talents that’s not transferable or teachable at all.

Joe "Bozo" Judge: "We don't run a clown show organization."

"A 3rd and 9 from our own 5? YUP. LET'S RUN A QB- KEEP."

Total Humiliation. NOT what Giants fans pay to watch (in their own house).

I just watched that press conference

They said 2 more questions. Those were asked and then they said ok two more and that’s when his 11 minute meltdown happened.

So he almost avoided it. But then fricked himself.

I read that as Judge Joe at first.

Not like he could be any worse than the fricking clowns they have had post-Coughlin.

The Coach that says they don’t run a clown show, is usually running a clown show.

His rant after they got blasted by the bears was hilariously tone deaf.

I assumed that was a bad hire from the jump when they had to swoop in and steal him from Mississippi State.

He likely could’ve gotten bigger college jobs than even that during that cycle. He was being chased by all kinds of teams. I believe the Eagles interviewed him and another team had requested to interview him and the giant ended up hiring him when that got out

I didn’t quite understand the amount of hype he was getting as a candidate. But these owners are just as gullible as anyone in terms of buying what they hear from teams, players, agents etc. so they start hearing those stories about how Saban and BB took him under their wing and he’s this young guy whose gonna build the next dynasty when he gets a chance… bite hard

No one has been worth a damn except Nick Saban and that's in college.
coaching trees are vastly overrated but Vrabel has done fairly well

That's what I remember. Going from the leading candidate at Cowbell U to the HC in the NFL in New York. I thought there is something really wrong with that scenario and I think I found my answer.

To be fair, this cuts both ways. Every cycle on the CC board there’s anywhere from 4-10 coaches who get built up as the must have coach and up and comer and they end up fired in 4 years.

In reality it’s just really hard to get these things right and luck is the driving force in a lot of ways for these things. Similar to the draft.

A lot of that is a mix of shite coaches, shite teams, and even worse fits.

Teams who have had the same coach since the 2000s - Pats (Belichick), Saints (Payton), Ravens (Harbaugh), Steelers (Tomlin)

From 2010 to 2015? Seahawks (Carroll) and KC (Andy Reid), with the Vikes firing Zimmer this year.

3/4 of coaches in the league have been hired in the past five years. Coaches getting 3-4 years to fix a team doesn’t seem to happen near as much these days with a lot of one season coaches in the past 15 years like Cam Cameron with the Dolphins.

Chalk up another Belichick discipline that completely fell flat on his face. When will the league learn not to hire these guys.

And coaching Lawrence Taylor and Tom Brady. As a DC/HC, he’s won four playoff games without them.

By no means am I saying BB isn’t a great coach, but players are more important than coaches.

Saw this on another board and agree with it 100% — it should be apparent to everyone by now that Belichick hires assistant coaches, he doesn’t ‘mentor’ or ‘train’ them to be head coaches.

They do a fine job under him in a niche role in a very tightly controlled environment, and then they go off as newly hired head coaches and try to go replicate the same secretive, siloed, cloak and dagger approach in New England without having built anything.
