ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter was nine pounds heavier than he was at the NFL combine about two weeks ago and couldn't finish his position drills at Georgia's pro day on Wednesday

quote:

Carter, who was once considered a potential No. 1 pick in April's draft, weighed 323 pounds at the pro day. He opted to do only position drills and didn't participate in other aspects of the workout, including the 40-yard dash, cone drills and other physical tests. Carter didn't finish the position drills because he was cramping up and breathing heavily.

Yep, seeing several people in attendance tweeting out how bad he was. That accident has him messed up, but I still expect a team to take him high

I don’t understand who is advising kids like him and Boutte from LSU. If you are out of shape and know you won’t test well, fake an injury and don’t work out. Let your tape do the talking when a disappointing workout can only hurt you.

Boutte doesn’t have any tape outside of one game 3 years ago

He looked out of shape for the playoff game against Ohio State too, and that was before the wreck. It was noticeable and it was weird.

Paris Johnson is a very good player, but a fully engaged Carter (like he was vs Tennessee or LSU) would have run through him like a hot knife through butter.

As said Boutte needs to show he can play.

There's a reason why a lot of top players don't do anything at the combine. You don't have anything to prove.

He had to know he gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks and wasn't going to perform well. This can literally only hurt him

That's actually kind of impressive. Not even sure how that's possible.

He could literally have one huge meal and retain 5-6 lbs of water weight for a day or two.

I'm nowhere near 315 but when I have a huge eating day of sugar/salt I am up multiple times that night having to drink water and I wake up at least 4 lbs heavier than the day before.

This guy may not have that problem as he needs to eat 4-5k calories a day likely

Yep. Some guys get lazy once they make it into the league. Some like Haynesworth get fat and happy after a few years and sign that big second contract.

It’s a big red flag when someone starts showing lazy tendencies while still in college.

Nothing like Albert Haynesworth, more like Jonathan Sullivan 2.0

Edit: I think this is actually worse than Sullivan, at least Sullivan waited until after he was drafted.

Why guaranteed contracts should never become a thing in the NFL.

I gained 25 lbs over Christmas break in college. Went from 150 to 175. 150 was light for me. Must have eaten poorly that semester. 175 was 10 lbs over my previous top weight.

You don’t know how it’s possible for someone his size to have a 9 pound increase over two weeks? It’s nothing
