Maybe it was just a poor offensive game between two average teams.

I agree with everything you said other than the "maybe" part.

True, but it doesn't matter given that they have Alabama in the SEC championship.

Really wouldn't be surprised if Auburn goes to Atlanta after today.

Auburn is a 100 percent playoff lock if they win out.

It's the same scenario for Georgia either way. If Auburn beats Bama and Georgia avenges its loss against Auburn, they are in.

Today Miami,Fla looked FAR better than average. They could have beaten Bama by 2-3 TDs

ND should never be assumed to be any good until they actually prove it over a long period of time. This happens every couple years now and they are proven to be garbage in the limelight.

I think the whole who beat who is completely overrated.

Alabama needs a Mullen meltdown or MSU takes them to OT
Georgia crushed MSU
MSU crushed LSU
LSU beats Auburn because Malzahn is an idiot
Malzahn out-coaches Kirby and stomps Georgia

Then look at Ohio State and their weird ride
Clemson loses to Syracuse
Oklahoma loses at home to a mediocre Iowa State team with a QB who had never taken a snap.

It goes in and on. The common opponent thing is a trap for the non thinker.

Gus may have called a better game yesterday but we kicked Georgias arse up front on both sides of the ball. When you are beating the up front like that, play calling is easy.

Our defensive like punished them for 4 quarters.

Your premise makes my point. Where was that line play against LSU?
And LSU lost to Troy.
Common opponent analysis is becoming as meaningless in college football as it is in the NFL

Can you imagine saying the NY Giants beat the Broncos who crushed the Cowboys etc etc etc?

I just think college is becoming more like that.

Every game is different. That's what makes trying to figure out who's best is fun, if not really difficult.

Road games (especially with a fired up hostile crowd/band/etc) are a lot more difficult than home games.

How many P5 conference games does a team play? Are there cupcakes on the schedule? Was there a BYE week before a tough opponent that gave you time to rest/heal?

Factor in all that stuff.
