These NIL deals better be put in writing. Other than LSU, I wouldn’t trust anything these schools told me verbally.

This is why NIL was never meant to be a pay-for-play model.

Took about 1-month where we pretended it was about advertising for the local car wash, whose owner just happened to be a booster. Since then it’s been full-on 100% bribery.

I'm not surprised by you agreeing with this. It seems to be who you are.

However, it is just a matter of time before NIL destroys college sports, and shite like this is just the beginning.

Unless there is a contract, I don't see how you can successfully sue Napes for that.

no matter what it is, democrats destroy every good thing just give them time. College sports, and particularly football, is headed for tough times without changes.

This kid played for 3 high schools, flipped from Miami to UF, signed with ASU then transferred to Georgia. He’s clearly getting pimped out for money, and this is just another attempt to get paid.

The whole family is trash. Have a cousin that knows them pretty well

all of this...and this is why it will destroy college football.

but it is considered bad PR to sue them.

I mean what are they going to get? Future earnings?

Florida has amended their NIL law and no longer prohibits Schools from Being directly involved in Students landing NIL deals.

The school can now direct a booster organization to get NIL deals for players (money just cannot come directly from the school itself)

Interesting. Just did some digging and they removed the languages about recruiting inducements as well. Bill text here: LINK

As you said, the legislation passed after the Rashada incident. I’m not sure how that affects things either.

Yes. Judgements are a standard lawsuits result.

Offer and acceptance can be argued. but they are actually alleging fraud not breach

Interestingly, the illegality might make the contract (if any) unenforceable. Depends on Florida law.

He’s not suing for breach of contract.

quote:

Specifically, the lawsuit claims fraudulent misrepresentation and inducement, aiding and abetting fraud, civil conspiracy to commit fraud, negligent misrepresentation, tortious interference with a business relationship or contract and aiding and abetting tortious interference.

There is a reason this is being filed as a fraud claim and not a breach of contract claim.

He's not suing the counter party to the contract (Gator Collective, the now defunct organization who used to run Florida's NIL deals). He is suing a bunch of people who were not part of the contract.

Yeah and when they inevitably present an oral agreement as their only proof it wont matter.

I highly doubt the Universities are putting any of these backdoor deals on paper. If nobody signed anything it doesnt matter if Napier told you he'd give you a gold plated unicorn.

Its a bad look and he will get fired mainly because it was a horrific hire to begin with. But nothing will come of this suit.

This law did not go into effect until AFTER the Jaden Rashada incident.
Again, a lawyer would have to answer on how that shakes out legally.
I'm not a lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express....

Wouldn't the entire contract become null and void if it wasn't legal per state law anyway at the time? Seems like the court would throw out this suit because the contract was illegal to begin with.

But I still want to get my popcorn out and enjoy the PR and recruiting black eye this will give Florida.
