People will come out support when there’s a solid product put out in front of them. Winning matters. This holds true from High school to the pros in any sport.
So until your high school wins are you gonna go and support the cross town rival or successful school from another city? No, you support the school you attend that is vital to your community and build it up to be better! Crazy concept for many in this state, I know!

I just searched on Google for top 3 most notable Ragin Cajun Alums and it came back with:
1) Governor Kathleen Blanco
2) Miss USA Ali Landry
3) Michael “6-7” Desormeaux
I did not know about Governor Blanco and Ali Landry. Pretty cool list.

That I have heard for some time now, this is Marlin's sunset job, everyone keeps hoping he will decide to retire. Have you heard any rumblings about who they might consider as a replacement? I haven't kept up. I know Byron Starks has done a good job at every place he has been up to now. I know he is 6-8 at BRCC right now but I think that is more because it's his first year there as head coach and is half the win total they had all of last season. My wife and I know Byron and his wife, so I sort of pull for that for them.
I know Byron, they are great people. But if I were to go with a former player it would be David Patrick.

You can add our incoming governor to that list as well!

Not in Lafayette. Attendance for football was declining even during Napiers best years.
They have peaked.
Their attendance is lead by aging baby boomers and the crop coming up couldn’t care less about the school. This is reflective in season ticket sales.
The student section they put out each week at home football games is pathetic. Less than 100 their last home game.
STM games draw more students. When both LSU and UL had home football games on the same day their entire baseball team chose to attend the LSU game. The vast majority of Lafayette chooses to attend LSU games over their local school.
Excluding Covid year this was the 2nd lowest attended New Orleans bowl game ever. The little support they have left is dying off.

Seems to be the trend for every Louisiana school barring LSU, which is my entire point. We call it out and discuss it in Lafayette as the big problem that it is, other schools have long ago accepted the lack of support.

The students had a planned boycott of the last home game. The administration is extremely adversarial towards its student body. That is why the fan base is 90% Boomers.
There isn’t a university administration in the state that creates more LSU fans than ours and it’s done unintentionally.

Maybe stop calling us Ryan Street High, for starters.
I really don’t care, but when you want to elevate your status and try to do it by putting others down, then that’s disrespectful to me.

As a freshman at UL we went to the first home game to tailgate, and our whole group got MIPs and our student IDs confiscated.
From then on we drove to BR and tailgated on Nicholson. Didn't attend a single LSU game while I was a student, but if you wanted to tailgate as a college student, it was worth the drive to BR.
Since that time, UL has created a playpen for students to "tailgate" under watchful eye of the campus police.
The people running that school would be just fine with a new stadium that has a football field, and 200 "luxury" suites where old Salooms, Moncuses, etc can occasionally stop by to glad-hand politicians and academics

You're not wrong. The admin has managed to kill off what used to be a very active tailgating scene by trying to monetize organized tailgating and parking . It's a shell of what it used to be and frankly it's sad
The student playpen area is a fricking joke . The dean of students that enforces those rules and deals with the Greek system got run off from Mississippi state for doing the same shite
