Because there wasn’t enough time to get a rebound and make a full court heave. They were up by 1 so being up by 2 in that situation is no help.

Exactly and if the second shot is made, then STM gets a chance to take it in from out of bounds and run some sort of play to heave it down court and catch and shoot a much closer 3.

I would think statistically speaking it is much more likely to throw a pass past half court and catch, shoot and make it compared to a full court heave like this.

Sometimes the correct coaching decision doesn't work out.

Incredible shot but damn it should've been waved off. If anyone was there, was there any discussion or did the refs just high tail it..

I’ve watched it a few times pausing and such. Keep in mind the horn is irrelevant but you can’t see the clock so we’ll just have to go off the horn. It’s closer than you think when you pause for each frame.

I've paused it on a frame where the ball is clearly out of the kids hand (just touching the bottom of the line painted on the wall) and the buzzer has not yet started to sound.

I thought it was late on first viewing, but can't think of any other way to explain that frame except good basket.

Again. If you play the video frame by frame, it’s damn close if he got it off before the horn.

And again, by rule the horn is irrelevant. But since we can’t see the clock we’ll go by the horn.

I as not there, but these are a few more details I have heard

- .6 was left on the clock

- It was a tie game and an STM player thought they had a foul to give, so it was an intentional foul that put him on the line, he made the first one, and purposely missed the 2nd
