FSU football drew record breaking ratings in week 0

FSU vs. New Mexico State was most-watched sports broadcast in history of The CW

The network announced on Wednesday that the Seminoles’ season-opening victory over New Mexico State set a record as the most-watched sports broadcast in the history of the network.
The matchup averaged 1.96 million viewers, peaking at 2.4 million, per Nielsen Panel + Big Data. Per the release, the game also delivered the network’s largest sports audience in the key Adults 25-54 demo (718,000) and was the second strongest primetime broadcast program of the night in the demo, surpassing all shows on ABC, CBS and NBC.

Hugely propped up by the fact it was sub-licensed to ESPN to stream through the ESPN app.
Nielsen doesn't break it down by which was which, but if I had to guess a lot of the viewers were like myself and hopping between games, saw that was the only close game on at the time and flipped over to watch it. I think it was like 10-7 when I flipped over and I kept it on until late 4th when FSU went up 34-17. It was a good game and New Mex St has a good little QB. Kid had some moxie and made some really nice throws.

This is only the 3rd year CW has aired football. They set records for most watched game every few weeks
