There's no way this is the rule. Players hit balls back to the ball boys/girls all the time. No way they would do that if there was some no tolerance rule for accidentally hitting one that wasn't paying attention was auto DQ.

Was very poorly worded by the poster who shared the pics…as I am assuming he is speaking about the ballboy supervisor in the Jean shorts

I like the rule. They should have it in golf on the PGA tour, US Open, PGA, The Open, and so on. If a golfer hits such a bad shot that he hits a spectator he should be disqualified.

That’s a good way to shrink your fan base with Nice job picking on the Asian contingent because some girl can’t control agony over a swatted tennis ball bumping into her

I hate when they judge the severity of the infraction of anything based on the reaction.

Getting tapped on the forehead with a relatively slow moving tennis ball brings her to tears? Life is not going to be kind to her.

Gotcha

Then yea, what an awful decision.

I don't even think the kid was crying in pain or whatever, just that she had become the center of attention.

Just saw the downvotes.

Is the tall girl super under age? Seems like that isn’t even possible. She looks like an adult and came onto the court to walk the little girl off…? I figured she was an employee.

If she isn’t 18 then fml.

ETA: The 1 upvote isn’t me

Slapping a little girl in the face with balls in her future is wildly popular but mine was an issue? I feel like I did something really wrong.

There’s zero way anyone thought I was talking about the little girl

No fricking way that should’ve been a DQ.

Wow. That’s ridiculous. Yes, they aren’t supposed to hit the ball to opposite side when not playing, but a warning was more than sufficient. She hit a soft backhand to “pass” the ball like I do when my opponent is serving. It doesn’t hurt to be hit at that speed. Might just not the breath out of you if it hit directly in the throat.

That girl doesn’t belong on a tennis court ever. Hell, I get hit much harder than that from only 3-4 feet away weekly in mixed drills. Stings but it’s not anything to cry about.

This is what happens when you let the French run something.

Somehow I doubt the portion of the USA that includes tennis ruling b odies has much in common with my portion either.
