Not sure if this is a troll or this guy being serious.

Unfortunately, on the aau scene it makes me sick about how some of these parents act.

Most likely will be done with basketball by the time she enters HS. Or Dad will be so hard on her and make her play, that she will hate his guts and want nothing to do with him when she graduates HS.

My 11 year old grandson played basketball this year and there was a dad sitting behind me yelling at his kid and telling what to do. He did the same thing at a baseball game the other night including going on the field when they pulled his son from pitching. The kid quit the team.

Damn shame these dumbasses want to live their lack of glory through their kids. No more potential meal ticket I guess….and the kid missed out on enjoying an important part of his life. Screw these pricks.

God I hope that is just a clever troll… Poor kids if not. Sports at that age should be fun.

I saw one on facebook yesterday. Guy was bragging about the amount of work his 7 year old puts in everyday and started posting his stats from the past weekend. Then he made it a point to say how his kid played with an 8u team when he was only 6. Poor kid will hate the game by the time he’s 12. This guy created a facebook page dedicated solely to him coaching his son’s team.

I was pretty hard on my son in one sport, then just took him out randomly to do another…with zero instruction, just to spend time and F around.

He quit the one I was hard on him in, albeit after winning the state championship as a freshman in high school…the other sport he’ll play in the SEC on scholarship.

Probably should have worded my criticisms in sport 1 better.

My daughter played high school ball with a girl who had committed to a D1 school in 8th grade (before rules changed). Had played since she was 4-5 years old. Got to her Senior year and decided she was done. So burnt out & hated the game. Gave up her scholarship & never played again. Made me so sad…

Batting avg at 7 years old lol. Those kids can't field for shite. If your kid just doesn't strike out he should bat. 1.000 at 7 yo coach lob.

The best part is how he had to justify how another kid didn’t run to second base and was thrown out so Little Talon was giving a FC instead of a hit lol

Who knows? Maybe his daughter really likes basketball and hopes to one day play college basketball. So he's asking college coaches what they look for in a player.

There is a difference between forcing your kid to play a sport to fulfill YOUR dreams and helping them as best you can to fulfill THEIR dreams (within reason, of course).

I have a daughter (younger than 4th grade) who loves playing basketball. She plays on a rec team during the winter, but we encourage her to try other sports (if she wants) at other times of the year. This summer she is going to a local basketball camp for a week. After signing her up for that, a friend asked if she wanted to go to a different basketball camp the next week. She begged me to go. Then another camp became available. So she is going to that one too. In no way, shape, or form did I demand she attend 3 weeks of basketball camp. In fact, I asked "are you sure you want to go to three basketball camps?". She does, and is excited about it.

I'm under ZERO sense of delusion that she will be a college basketball player. Hell, I doubt she even tries to play in high school. But since she really, really, likes to play, I'm going to afford her the opportunity to do so. Again, within reason. We're not missing school or important family events for 8 year old basketball.

College coaches aren't looking for anything in a 4th grader man. HS coaches aren't looking into 4th graders either This is way to young to even think about HS sports much less college. I could write a book about the AAU/Travel ball model is a disease and parents like this guy contribute to it.

AAU basketball is the original travel ball. Nothing is as dirty as AAU.

Basketball talent is extremely genetic in most cases but I can see how there might be more opportunities for women to essentially train their way into division 1 scholarships.

I ate dinner with my family last night, should I make a post on Facebook and congratulate myself on being Father of the Year?
