Turn one is a short run. Not sure Hamilton can get a run on Max if they both get decent starts. Which means Lando likely won't have much of a run on Ham. Might be mostly status quo until turn 5.

Interesting RBR sacrificed downforce for that straightline speed. They tried some trick shite with their floor last week, would be interesting to know if they did it again this week with better results.

Apparently Lewis thinks Max locked up on purpose to start on the softs as a strategic move.

With the new profiled corners it's probably not a bad idea to go for more speed. In turn one, I would imagine Perez goes super hard for it because in the grand scheme of things, he doesn't matter is there to only help Max. If Perez pulls a Bottas and takes Lewis out on the start, no big deal for RB. If Perez gets in front of Lewis, he can hold him up as much as possible to let max get away. Should be extremely fun to watch.

They deliberately chose to go on soft when the remaining option was a flat spotted medium to start on.

Think the original plan had to be split strategies.

Lewis kindof jokingly saying that maybe Max forced their hand because he wanted to run a soft start strategy.

Wow.

Probably the 1st time 2007 Alonso didn't win this battle.

That one was back and forth all season. Ocon had the early 4-1 lead. Maybe it took some time for Alonso to get back into it.

It's weird seeing how streaky things are.

Leclerc was up 5-1. Sainz finished 4-1.
Stroll had two different 3-1 streaks. Vettel 5-1 at the end.
Ricciardo 3-1 start. Lando then went 7-0 and finished 4-0.
Russell started 18-0. Latifi finished 2-2
Gasley started 21-0. Yuki finished 1-0

I’m really shocked that Gasley hasn’t been given another shot at the second RB seat again. It’s almost like it’s a personality and not a performance issue.

Wonder if teams were a little hesitant with the regs changes for next year. You'd have to figure Alpine would love having a premier French driver in one of their seats in the next few years...

Allegedly he still has many years left on his Red Bull contract.

The rumor is Perez gets one more year then Gasly will go back.

Tomorrow feels like Xmas morning… going to be a good way to start the day before heading to the airport.

Gio had him 8-2 to start the season. They finished 5-5. It almost looks like Gio really started to slow once he found out he was out of F1.

I lost my internet tonight and won't get it repaired until tomorrow around 10am.

Hopefully my backup plan works.

It is Kimi's last race weekend in F1* so it may well be fueled by vodka and punctuated by dancing naked on a bar somewhere, at least in his mind.

* over the next few decades I expect there will be stories of boat and snowmobile races where the winner was an unidentified gorilla.

We should have had a MSB F1 GTG watch party for this.
