Can they go soft medium soft? Lower fuel load at the end. Could be insane
Then I think Perez has to get ahead in turn 1 and slow down Ham…. Looks like 22 seconds or so for a stop.

Yeah the pit stops are killer. 2 stops would absolutely kill them unless they can luck into a cheap one

It all depends on the number of incidents, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Max give up a lead at the end to go to softs and then try to reel Hamilton in over the last 12 or so laps.

Perez actually being in play really helps RB here, turn one is going to be insane if Perez gets off the line quick with the softs.

Horner said they could still do 1 stop but he didn't sound like he really believed it.

How do you do a one stop starting on the softs. I just don’t see how it’s possible.

don't think they can avoid a 2 stop
This will be their hurdle. RBR will need a well timed caution after Merc pits to go to hards.
A two stop here is tough.

Get a 25 second gap to 3rd and hold it as long as possible even maybe giving up the lead to Ham but staying in the 2-3 second window. Then go hards hoping they last 35. These turns and bumps aren’t brutal and he’s got a low downforce rear wing. It’s possible but it would have to be a clean race. Any long safety car could force most teams into two stops anyway.

RBR has to be hoping for another red flag so they can get a free tyre change.
TBH, I'm not a fan of that rule. I understand that the conditions may cause debris that would necessitate the free change but they should have to stick with the same tyre choice they were already on.

I think that rule will be altered in the off-season. Either swap to same tire or go to the back of the grid will be instituted.

I don’t think we get a Red Flag or even many SCs. They’ll have to come up with a strategy.

The right side of the grid will be Hamilton followed by Perez followed by Bottas. That will be interesting.
The real question is what does Lando do? Does he sit back and let the others take each other out or does he get aggressive, possibly causing some trouble himself.

Lando mentioned he was nervous for that very reason after Q3. Said he was afraid to create a controversy.

Apparently Lewis thinks Max locked up on purpose to start on the softs as a strategic move.

Feel like both the Mclaren drivers have a penchant for taking super wide lines off the starting grid, wouldn’t be surprised if Lando does that again to (a) get out of the way of the impending Merc/RBR duel and (b) hunt for daylight if it presents itself

Doesn’t make sense but that’s what he said.
