It was like an IndyCar race where a random full course yellow throws a monkey wrench into the works and completely reshuffles the order.

That was my first thought, it was an IndyCar-style race. So I find it hilarious that a lot of F1 fan boys love pissing on IndyCar, but then they celebrate this most IndyCar-like race. But I wouldn't call the full-course yellows "random." There are a couple of reasons I can think of off the top of my head why IndyCar has more full-course yellows:

1. F1 has a better system for getting stranded cars off the track.

2. In F1 if you stall your engine, you're done. In IndyCar if you stall the engine but the car is otherwise in decent shape, you can get a push start, so that brings out the full-course caution so the truck can come out and they can give you a push.

While the F1 style is certainly more pure, I wouldn't mind some changes in F1 rules that would liven up some of the races like this.

What was everyone's favorite part of the race? Seeing HAM prove he was the best driver or seeing Kimi fall back through the field?

Great to see a different podium, but it was a shite race.

There was plenty of on track passing even taking out hamilton's storm through the back half.

No there wasn't

Other than HAM charging through the field and Kimi falling back there was nothing

Removing Kimi, HAM, and the DNFs this is the order on Lap 30 and the final lap (lap 30 GIO came in to serve penalty).

30 Final
-----------
GAS GAS
SAI SAI
STR STR
NOR NOR
BOT BOT
RIC RIC
OCO OCO
KVY KVY
PER PER
LAT LAT
GRO GRO
RUS RUS
ALB ALB

The standing restart in the middle of the race was fun. NASCAR does something similar.

It's very odd that they want to be in a worldwide racing category using an obscure brand name. That being said, the original Alpine A110 is probably my all-time favorite car.

And I'm really bummed that they won't bring the new Alpine to the US.

They must be planning to make a marketing push with the name. Does seem odd still. I thought France was supposed to be going all electric or something.

They missed an opportunity to bring back the blue and yellow Renault livery Alonso ran

Pretty cool that Alpine is joining the sport though...I know they ran in WEC with LMP cars

Apparently Lando sliced his hand open trying to slam a bottle of beer after the race.

Hamilton post-race interview (paraphrasing):

Q: What are your thoughts on the podium?

A: I don’t know who else got there.

Q: (re Gasly): Do you remember what that felt like to win your first race?

A: No, that was too long ago.

Arsehole.

Watch the video, the paraphrasing makes it a hell of a lot worse than what it actually was.

Ok, watched it... yea, seemed pretty harmless... maybe a little conceited, maybe a little clueless

He congratulated Gasly and said it was awesome the podium was filled with young guys, I dont see the big deal really

Kimi says what Lewis said there and people are probably laughing because Kimi is so quirky.

Surprised he knew the winner and not the whole podium, but it may be giving the drivers too much credit to be worried about that. They aren't exactly watching the race or trophy ceremony.
