Lewis is acutely media conscious, and is in character whenever he speaks, to the point of always coming across as fake.

He must think this is good for his brand.

I think it’s more about building some sort of adversity for himself because he’s so dominant. Think it’s some sort of weird motivational thing.

In fairness Ocon was on the list and he is French.

I think their point is that those listed aren't of white northern european decent.

But Leclerc and Giovanazzi wouldn't be either.

1. He needs to prove that there is some sort of barrier to minorities/women from entering F1. You can't just look at the grid and see that you're the only black guy and then assume racism. That's not fair. Be productive by finding the artificial barriers and then working to remove them.

Whatever structural barrier exists is purely economic. I tend not to think it's racially-based as much as where the developmental programs are geographically located and where the marginal dollars exist for funding teams and development.

As one example, much of Latin America is fricking crazy about top tier racing, but there is squat for developing kids from middle class and working class backgrounds in those countries not just to be drivers but to be engineers, principals, crew, etc., etc.

That won't happen until those countries have significant disposable income available to devote to motor racing. F1 differs a lot from, say, golf or tennis, where the sports are big only in certain countries and they have a distinctly class tinge to them. F1's lack of diversity is visible because China and Nigeria and Brazil and India (RIP Force India) and Indonesia and so on and so on don't have the collective disposable income to put up teams and developmental programs and so forth; for that matter, rich Arab aristocrats seem content to just buy teams and not actually invest in development. Until that changes, the sport will be dominated by the locales where the teams are mostly located and where the development programs are.

2. He's a huge hypocrite. Neither he nor anyone associated with F1 will make any sort of public statement about ethnic minorities, religious minorities, women, or gays and lesbians when they travel to China and Abu Dhabi.

That's not purely an F1 problem, either: see, the American NBA. What some NBA organizations and superstars did after the Morey incident was disgusting. It will be looked back upon with shame fifty years from now in this country. EPL orgs are grossly guilty of this as well.

Edit: I agree with some of the others who have opined on Hamilton. As much as anything, he is pulling a Jordan and trying to create adversity for himself to keep himself motivated and interested.

Well. It seems Sainz is having second thoughts with Ferrari, Racing Point is booting Checo for Seb....Haas wanting Checo...Merc was thinking of replacing Bottas for Russell, but Claire said he has to honor the contract...Is Albon safe with Red Bull?

Going to be interesting couple of weeks.

It stinks that the most exciting thing in F1 right now is what driver will be on what team next year

The midfield racing has been fantastic so far.

This.

Just stop watching if your watching specfically to see a battle for the race win. It's going to be HAM or BOT unless 1 or both crash out.

The midfield, which includes Ferrari, is where it's at.

Ferrari should take Perez. Maybe Russell or Alvin.

It seems like Red Bull is going out of their way a little too much to keep reaffirming their satisfaction with Albon... which makes it even more suspicious imo

Last year it seemed like Gasley really didnt get it, and wasnt understanding what the were trying to teach him

But you know Albon has to be looking over his shoulder at GAS, RIC and KVY

Russell has to honor the contract. Williams is not letting him out of it.
