yea, you're looking at the cockpit there, with the legs pointing towards the right basically
I didn't realize the car did a 180. Now I see the halo too. Unreal.

Holy shite, watching that replay of him getting out. Incredible.

yea that also means the G forces most have been enormous. The car barely moved after making contact with the barrier, almost instant stop to 0, mostly just twisting

Escaping the fire
Maylander deserves a beer. He jumped out of the safety car and ran towards the flames to get Gro out.
Edit: looks like the safety car co-driver running in to the flames.

The amount of time he spent inside that fireball is insane...he can't breathe inside that fire, and they're right, had he been knocked out, he would have been dead
shite, any number of usual issues resulting from a crash would have been his undoing... talk about a lucky man

There is no doubt that the safety car team are freaking heroes

That’s crazy he ended up on the other side of the barrier

Just tuned in..
Insane crash, fire, and the driver climbing out of the inferno.

It was the medical car crew, not Maylander and safety car crew

Seeing him hobble out while shaking his hands, all I can hear in my head is him saying "hothothothot."
Posted on 11/29/20 at 9:04 am to BigWillieStyle
Incredible he walked away from that.
It has to be tough for the other drivers to get back in the car after seeing that.

It's a miracle the barrier didn't block his escape

Oh, gotcha. I always figured it was the safety car crew in the rear. Makes sense it is a medical crew.

They need to do away with guardrails and have solid barriers. That was a big problem in the seventies they would punch through the gaps in the guardrails

Much deserved air time

To those guys
Also, I’d like to point out that they’re pumping up the safety measures but it wasn’t long ago that Leclerc and Kvyat were blazing around full speed with no seatbelts and no one was reprimanded and it was pretty much dismissed. I hope they all look back and realize just how stupid that was.
