New details emerged following a Thursday court appearance when it comes to former Notre Dame running back Cierre Wood, the girl’s mother and the death this week of a 5-year old child.

Initially charged with first-degree child abuse, Wood and Amy Taylor now face murder charges following the death of La’Rayah Davis, whose name was released Thursday.

Sad. What else can you say?

Guy was given opportunity...what did he do with it?

“You purposely hurt my kid. I never thought I’d bury my child at five years old,” said father Danaun Davis, who spoke in court on Thursday. "I can't call her. I just talked to her that Monday before. ‘Dad, I'll see you in two weeks.’ The next day, I get a call that she's gone."

Would be tough to let the legal process play out if I’m this guy

Not to sound like an internet tough guy, but if this was my kid this dude wouldn't make it to the trial

Dad is all sorts of torn up in the interview.

He's going to have to deal with some guilt on top of his grief too.

Davis said there were warning signs, according to KSNV.

"Every time I picked her up the last few months, she was afraid to go home,” he said. “She kept telling me something was wrong."

Nah, I honestly think that most parents feel that way. If someone was to hurt my daughter this way I would watch the light fade from their eyes.

I just can't comprehend how a grown man can do that to a little girl. DIAF, Cierre.

I don't know what being "given an opportunity" has to do with being a bad person.

There are murderers in every socioeconomic class.

I think lack of opportunity is what some people think makes a person bad.

Yes, but which socioeconomic class contains the most murderers?

He was a highly rated recruit if I’m thinking of the same guy, not that it matters.

I disagree. There are plenty of people without opportunities that aren't killing people.

The one that's much larger than any of the others.

He was and was pretty good when wasn’t suspended, which was often. He was ultimately booted from school.

He was always a problem child, but it’s hard to see something like this coming.

As a father of 4, this X's infinity!! And I wouldn't feel an ounce of guilt after!

Those bastards don't deserve a trial. Immediate execution because now it will cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars to house and feed that pile of shite "democrat".

I was going to make this joke, but somehow it didn't seem appropriate.

He was a 4 star on rivals, signed with Notre Dame over Auburn, Cal, Florida, and Nebraska.

Dude was pretty good, I think he was a 1,000 yard rusher at ND at a time when they were pretty deep at tailback. Signed as an UDFA with Houston, got cut for breaking team rules and eventually flamed out of the NFL.

Nowadays he is a TPOS who can rot.

I live in his hometown and we are the same age and have mutual friends. I remember playing football and basketball against him in high school. Never spoke to him personally really. Its a big story here because he was seen as a success setting local records and going to Notre Dame. It will be interesting to see how this plays out...

I doubt Wood or the mother will have the money to get out on bail, so he won’t have much temptation. Also he likely knows that a guy who killed a 5 year old is going to have a huge target on his back in prison, even if he is a world-class athlete.

So they were beating her so severely that it damaged organs and killed her?

That’s sickening.
