Radio stations sometimes "stunt" before a format change.
Stunting is when they play out of format stuff in anticipation of a format change.
For example, 1210 is playing Gospel right now, which is totally out of character of Sports talk. If the plan is to, say, to go an Oldies format, then today's Gospel would be "stunting."
It does seem like the format is changed.

It was my understanding Condon was the only one that didn't pay rent because he did indeed bring in the ratings and that he had come back to radio due to there being a demand for him. I would have thought Jordy was bringing in good numbers also. He's the most professional of the group and had on-air guests the others only wish they could get. His connections brought many,many key guests onto his show. I'm gonna miss that show if it's gone- I listen daily on my ride to work.

ott and songy had to know they weren't going to do that forever with clear channel laying people off left and right nationwide .. but it still sucks for them .. you never like to see someone lose their livelihood ..

condon's deal was antiquated and set in the 1990's when he did command money and did bring in ratings .. he doesn't anymore and I know they were losing money on his show .. I am starting to wonder if they didn't pretty much fire him and put the leave of absence out there to save some face for him thinking the rehab shite wouldn't get out ..

No, this isn't a stunt. 1210 is gospel - the same Hallelujah format they have in New Orleans and Jackson, MS.

thanks for the confirmation .. once again, sorry to all of the hosts and nothing but best wishes for their futures .. but I think we will never see the sports talk radio we've enjoyed for over 20 years ever again .. sad day in BR radio ..

My information is correct. Clear Channel sent an e-mail at 12:01 a.m last night informing their Baton Rouge staff that 1210 was switching to Gospel. The market manager called each one of the hosts to inform them that the station represented 3% of the cluster revenue and 46% of the labor cost (board-ops, Condon, etc.)
There are only three station targeted at the urban population which makes up 30% of the Baton Rouge TSA market. All of the stations are owned by Cumulus. Clear Channel is hoping to take a portion of those ratings away from Cumulus while increasing their revenue by two or three. They were not going to make a dent into the sports market which Guaranty owns with LSU, the Saints, and ESPN radio which pulls in three times the revenue that 1210 did.
The better question is .....who are you? I call Bull-Shite on you because my sources are concrete.
