1280 was doing the saints around 1992 ..

and actually, I think Garrett was fired before the end of his second season with the saints for being late for a pre-game show .. it wasn't the UNO thing that got him canned, but that did happen and was the beginning of the end for him I guess ..

Yeah I may do that. The thing is I can't see the guy in first place's picks since the website is gone.

Happens all the time. Was listening to 104.1 fm and was on station till noon and then switched to another at noon. As soon as I heard marky mark, I turned that shite off. They were playing rock and roll.

I don't think that was technically a station website .. it was one of those syndicated sites .. that was probably a national contest ..

The Saints were definitely NOT on WWL in 1993. I specifically remember Jim Henderson, idiotically forced into color by the decision to make Garrett the PBP man (I could theorize why he was hired, but lets not go there), making a joke about the recently released Fugitive movie: Barry Sanders is more elusive than Dr. Richard Kimble.

I wonder if someone with big money stepped in and bought the station or time or whatever. Someone with a gospel agenda. (and I don't have a problem with that... other than I prefer the sports stuff)

I just can't imagine that a gospel channel could bring in more bucks than a sports station in Baton Rouge with LSU's success. Especially in 2012.

1210AM was a Christian station before it was sports talk, fwiw ...

They were losing money on Hultberg and Condon probably .. and Ott and Songy's airtime rent wasn't enough and the format overall was in the red .. sports talk radio is an expensive format overhead-wise and usually doesn't get high enough ratings to warrant the major advertising money from the agencies ... This is why you don't see 104.5 going full blown local ..

I know that Ott and Songy both were going to be live from NO on JAn 9th. Ott was actually supposed to appear all week from different NOLA eateries. Ah well I guess listening to The Herd and Colin's spill about how Money and big markets are the only thing that matters.

Interesting.

I wonder if 104.5 might pick up any of the 4 of them.

Surely a sports station can make money with LSU topics now?

The flagship stations make money off the local teams .. Here in BR, Guaranty Broadcasting really has that major LSU money tied and LSU calls a lot of the shots .. The 1210 guys have been shunned for the most part and have gotten crumbs over the years ..

Like rag said, Ott doesn't have many friends at guaranty.

I could see them maybe bringing Jordy's morning show over. I remember them talking about adding 1 more local show, but never heard anything further.

I honestly have no idea what Songy does now. I feel bad for him really.

I see Jordy .. with his LSU ties .. winding up at 104.5 .. LSU would nix Condon ..

Ouch. That's low class but typically how those format changes go I guess.
