Unfortunately the players we sent aren't good enough to be spoiled

The style of American basketball is inferior and less effective than international ball. In America it’s a culture of Hero ball, and defense is an afterthought

the warriors definitely hero ball. steph takes ridiculous shots very often.

and you just prove my point with the nuggets. they are one of the few teams that play similarly to the euro style so its no surprise that they're the champs

I’ve never met someone who thinks Steph should shoot less. Scorching hot take.

Didn't see the game but how does the defensive player of the year let Theis score 21?

What would a winning Team USA look like for the Olympics that doesn't include Durant, Lebron and Curry?

I would definitely say that Anthony Edwards makes the team. Tyrese Halliburton, too.

The biggest improvement would be the bigs, especially if Embiid plays.

Taking away the older vets, here is a potential top 12. Also took off guys like Kawhi and Kyrie who make excuses to miss games in the NBA.

So no LeBron, KD, Curry, Paul George, Lillard, Chris Paul, DeRozan, or Jrue due to age.

No Morant, Zion, Kyrie, Kawhi, AD for reasons other than age. That’s 13 guys right there.

One of Trae Young, LaMelo Ball, or Darius Garland
Tyrese Halliburton
Anthony Edwards
Donovan Mitchell
Zac Lavine
Devin Booker
Jaylen Brown
Jayson Tatum
Mikal Bridges
Jimmy Butler
Joel Embiid
Bam Adebayo

This team is too small imo for European opposition and I would take one or two of the guards off and put in tough guys who can shoot and rebound, like Wendell Carter, Bobby Portis, or Jarrett Allen.

yuck it up and slap ya knee all you want, but taking contested shots, even if you're curry is not a great idea in the long run. its bad basketball and americans are adopting this style of play to their detriment.

They have the best field goal percentage and shot selection of any team in the tournament though.

54 percent field goal percentage, 40 percent from 3, and 80 percent on free throws.

Other than Cam Johnson, no one on the team shot below 48% for the tournament.

55.9% of Golden State's shots this past season were either considered open (4-6 ft) or wide open (6+ ft). Curry's shot selection was 59% either open or wide open. I'm not really sure how you watch some of these NBA teams right now and consider it a bunch of hero ball. Of course there are exceptions, but ball movement in the NBA is about as good as it's ever been.

You know Embiid isn’t American, right?

Otherwise that team could probably outshoot a lot of teams and Butler would bring leadership and competitive fire which could help push them to a gold medal.
