Him dropping 60 in his final game against Utah

Taking Brandy to prom. 90s kids will know what a boss move that was. Kobe was ‘cool’ personified.

Never look for it but ok.
Anyway, it didn't show but I meant respect when I said RIP.
I feel for his family and for the family of the other parent/child (eta...everyone on board). It's sad, really is.

The fact he played for the Lake Show the entire time. Easily could have gone to a Championship team and won more rings than Sonic the Hedgehog.

You know there is another angle that shows he wasn’t even close to him right?

-Game-winning shot against Suns in 2006 playoffs first round
-81 points against Toronto in 06, one of those transcendent sports moments that transfixes people for days after
-Game-tying shot against Detroit game 2 2004 Finals
-game-winning shot against Pacers game 4 2000 Finals (his breakthrough moment as full-fledged pro star to me)
-60 points in final game

I sat courtside in OKC in 2006 when he put 50 on the NOLA/OKC Hornets. It was incredible.

For me it was taking over the 4th qtr in the olympics and leading team USA to victory

Blazers game 7... probably my favorite game that I've ever watched.

there was a moment in the 2nd half of a Team USA game - can't remember exactly what game or year, but I think it was Australia in 2012.
Kobe hadn't hit a shot yet, and the announcers were going on and on about the young guys.
Kobe came down the court and hit three 3s in a row to truly ice the game, and he looked visibly pissed off/fired up while doing it.
I remember being fired up, as it was the first time I was really able to root for the guy uninhibited.
I remember thinking, "Is this what cheering for Kobe feels like?! No wonder so many people do it, this is fun as hell."
Not long after that was the achilles tear and the free throws and the farewell tour. Watching the way the game had changed and how all the main guys were super-pals, I realized how much I was gonna miss watching him play, even if I was on the wrong side of many a Kobe arse-kicking over the years.
I was genuinely excited to see how he would continue to contribute to the game. He was always different, and he was intelligent. I wanted to see commentator/coach/proud parent/etc. Kobe as he got older.
It's a sad day for sports. My heart breaks for his family, but at least they had the perfect role model for the relentless mentality it takes to overcome obstacles.
