class by Hamilton at the podium.
Is it easier for Hamilton to be classy when he is winning?

Hamilton seems like a total PR expert after how long he's been at the top of F1. He knows exactly what to say and do to keep everyone happy and market his image.

"I disagree with where the sport is now," he said on Sunday night. "You have all this wording 'I gained an advantage, I didn't gain an advantage, I avoided a collision'. I just think it's wrong, you know, it's not really what we're doing in the car. "It's racing, it's common sense.
Once I looked in the mirror, he was sort of there but for me that's racing and I think a lot of the people, including the old Formula One drivers and people in the grandstands and so on, would agree that this is just part of racing.
We all sound a bit like lawyers using the official language. I think it just gives no edge to people and no edge to the sport. Obviously it hurts me today because it impacts on my race result but I think this more of a bigger issue.
Tomorrow, when I wake up, I won't be disappointed. I think Lewis and myself we share great respect and I think we've achieved so much in the sport, I think we're both very, very blessed to be in that position, so one win up, one win down, I don't think it's a game-changer if you've been around for such a long time, but as I said, I'm not happy about all this complaining and stuff that we see so many times."

Q: (Frederic Ferret – L’Equipe) Sebastian, do you plan to go to talk to the stewards afterwards and Lewis, can you summarise what was your feeling in Spa in 2008 when the same happened to you?
** SV: I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know what’s the procedure now. I was just thinking that I really love my racing. I’m a purist, I love going back and looking at the old times, the old cars, the old drivers. It’s an honour when you have the chance to meet them and talk to them; they’re heroes in a way. So I really love that but I just wish I was maybe as good, doing what I do, but being in their time rather than today.
I think it’s not just about that decision today, there’s other decisions. Just hear the wording when people come on the radio, that we have now. We have an official language, I think it’s all wrong. I think we should be able to say what we think but we’re not so in this regard I disagree with where the sport is now. You have all this wording ‘I gained an advantage, I didn’t gain an advantage, I avoided a collision’. I just think it’s wrong, you know, it’s not really what we’re doing in the car. It’s racing, it’s common sense.
If there’s a hazard on track, obviously you slow down because it’s quite unnatural to keep the pedal to the floor and run into the car and then say, ‘ah, it’s wrong that the car was there.’ I think Lewis… obviously as I said, I rejoined the track and then Lewis obviously had to react. I don’t know how close it was or close he was. Once I looked in the mirror he was sort of there but for me that’s racing and I think a lot of the people that I just mentioned earlier, the old Formula One drivers and people in the grandstands and so on, would agree that this is just part of racing but nowadays it’s just… I don’t like it, we all sound a bit like lawyers and using the official language. I think it just gives no edge to people and no edge to the sport.
Ultimately it’s not the sport that I fell in love with when I was watching. Obviously it hurts me today because it impacts on my race result but I think this more of a bigger criteria. Tomorrow, when I wake up, I won’t be disappointed. I think Lewis and myself we share great respect and I think we’ve achieved so much in the sport, I think we’re both very very blessed to be in that position so one win up, one win down, I don’t think it’s a game-changer if you’ve been around for such a long time, but as I said, I’m not happy about all this complaining and stuff that we see so many times.

I now believe Ferrari is actually going out if their way to not be competitive.

It might be time for Ferrari to find another #1 driver. I hear some Spanish dude is available, supposed to be a really good driver and he's motivated to join a front-running team. He'd probably drive for peanuts.

Probably wouldn’t have watched the race this weekend but Lando starting P5 (and being fast all weekend) is gonna pull me in.
I hope Mercedes win all 21 at this point, only thing that would make it entertaining is if they can run the table

Thought I would be a Russell fan more than a Lando, but Lando's personality is making me a big fan. Plus the guy can fly.
Those Renault's (all of them) are looking really good too. Hope they can catch Red Bull by the end of the year.

Chances of a McLaren podium tomorrow? If will be well deserved and a long time coming. Hasn't it been like 6 years or something since their last podium/win?

About the only reason I’m still interested is it looks like McLaren and Renault are improving and may eventually challenge Red Bull later on.
Lando took Jimmy Butler for a lap at the Canadian GP a couple weeks ago.
“My stomach fixin to fall out my arse man”
Starts about the 4:45 mark

3-10 have never been so even since I've been watching. I think verstappen deserves plenty of respect for the season he is putting together. Gasly is showing that it is not the car.

Or Gasly is that terrible. With Toro Rosso finishing in front of him at times I will say Gasly is that bad. Torpedo back in the seat by Russia.

Hate to say it but this race has been boring.

New to this sport this season.
Question
How im the hell Lewis Hamilton +12 sec ahead of his teammate, that is in second place at the time of posting this?

Most have been this season. Just the fact that all 20 cars are still in at this point shows that there hasn't been much action.

Me too. It looks awesome but it has been boring due to the fact it has been a one driver/ one team domination since the season started.
I started watching Indy this season also and they have had some great races so far. I have found it more enjoyable to watch than F1 up to this point.

Paul Ricard is a terrible track to have a grand prix. It's designed as a test track, that's why there's miles of run-off room, and alternate layouts that you can see. There's no soul to this track. Magny-Cours is a proper track, the race should be there.
If you want to see a race at a real race track, IndyCar will be racing at Road America in a couple of hours.

Neutral observers who are not emotionally invested in any series will acknowledge that the racing is far better in IndyCar, because they use mostly-spec cars so everyone has a chance to be competitive. In F1 the drama comes from individual battles between teammates or between two drivers from different teams who happen to be close to each other throughout the season. You have to accept that in F1, only 4-6 drivers have a legitimate chance to win a race.
This year is showing F1 at its worst, when one team dominates and it will take some luck for another team to sniff the top of the podium.

Watching Renault this year has been fun, watching the rookies has also been fun. Still a long way to go in the season. Don't see Merc being challenged, but there looks to be some great mid pack racing upcoming.
DRS is going to kill the sport. So terrible to watch that front stretch passing. Worse than Indy using 'push to pass'

I started watching because the Netflix show was pretty interesting but they’re quickly losing my attention, the cars are an engineering marvel but the racing has been pretty pedestrian to watch.
