I think there is a LOT to be said about playing catcher. It's the most physically demanding position on the field...as opposed to the position generally reserved for the worst defender on the team (RF). To catch 160 games, having to handle thousands of pitches and only commit 4 errors and have zero PBs is pretty remarkable.

4 of 5 MVPs is inner-circle quality. Judge is the best hitter since prime Albert & even he's a clear 2nd place to Ohtani

If Judge is so valuable, why does he frickin choke in the playoffs?
What Judge did hasn’t been done since Mantle. What Cal did hasn’t been done ever. And he got his team to the ALCS!

Judge is good but he is stuck in pergatory on a mediocre team the same way Shohei was with the Angels. If Judge could get himself to a good organization he could really shine.

Deserved.
Hitting sub .250 is hard to overlook.

I was told batting average doesn't matter...
Posted on 11/14/25 at 8:35 pm to FightinTigersDammit
he lead in OBP and SLG too

But "nobody has hit .330 and..."

you don’t understand any of this enough to even start to make this argument
no one cares about BA because power matters so much
he did both. his power numbers are also elite. He lead the league in SLG
he also got on base at a higher rate than anyone in the league
there really isn’t anything you can ask a modern hitter to do that he didn’t do.

No one. And I mean no gm in baseball, is taking erin over Ohtani.

The Yankees won nothing and that’s all that matters in the end
Posted on 11/14/25 at 9:59 pm to SammyTiger
Oh, please.
The MSB is the home of batting averages and pitching wins don't matter, but then when it helps your point, hey, nobody has hit .330 and done whatever since way back when.
It's inconsistent, and if you can't understand THAT, then go frick yourself.

Why do people say BA doesn’t matter?
Because power and OBP mean more
what was the second part of “No one has hit .330 and…”
50+ home runs
so in an era where you sacrifice BA for power, he STILL hit for .330+ while smashing 50+ home runs.
hit sub .250 and 60 Hr is cool
but Raleigh’s year was special because he did that while played a premier defensive position at an elite level.
