ESPN used to have a tremendous news division. The proudest moment for the network for a long time was when they were on the ground and the best source of news for the San Francisco earthquake during the World Series. That was nearly 30 years ago.
If you look at who they are laying off, it's journalists. Now personalities, not screaming heads, but people who do the actual hard work of reporting. That's because actual news gathering is both difficult nd expensive, and ESPN doesn't care about doing good journalism anymore. Their big news show became a marketing device for ESPN properties and advertisers a long time ago.
This is a sad day. The old ESPN is officially dead. All that's left is a slimy huckster wearing its suit.

Was he still doing TV? Haven't watched the show in a while but he's been on the Baseball Tonight podcast that I listen to.

I came here for Jemele Hill.
But this fricking guy (College Football Recruiting Reporter Jeremy Crabtree) should have been fired years ago, along with his butt buddy Tom Luginbill (who I'm pretty sure knows jack shite about recruiting).

If Tim MacMahon goes from ESPN Dallas as well, I would be ecstatic

Trent is another relatively surprising one, at least to me.
I'll say it again, it makes no sense to pay someone like Gruden 6 million a year when his presence has likely no impact on ratings whatsoever.
Just get a competent color guy for MNF. The end.
They will have to wait until Gruden's contract expires, obviously.

In your heart of hearts thought Jamele Hill was gonna be fired after getting a new show and signing a new lucrative deal?

Probably just needs to shut down the recruiting all together

Should we talk about TNT & ESPN's NBA deal that took effect at the start of this current season?
Wonder if they still consider that money well spent?

She is the least talented person on their broadcast. But finding a black female sports reporter that can speak English is apparently the rarest of finds in journalism.

Dilfer was just a good guy in general. If you don't like Dilfer, GFY

Definitely. Once I got past that I really enjoyed the show. I drive a lot for work so I always made it a point to tune in to R&K
