I wonder at what point does SVP get tired of doing midnight shows and want's to live a normal life, especially once he has animosity towards ESPN for cutting all his old buddies

ESPN has been a 24/7 media company since it started. You'd think they'd know how it works by now.

I tried listening the other day...he was being a condescending dick bag about baseball (he said with certainty LSU would sweep the remaining OOC games ooooops) and then started screaming in a segment about the saints likely not dealing for Butler, it was just awful.

Agree. I like some of that show. And disagree with some takes which is fine.

But the extended dead air time and never knowing if they are actually still on the air bugs me.

looks like a lot of the layoffs are writers for espn.com

I cannot wait for their final show ever on the network:

ESPN 30 for 30: How we died.

Who wants to listen to non stop sports talk from 8am-5pm. LeBatard fills a niche.

Is there only 1 radio station out there that we are forced to listen too?

Who wants to watch non stop business stuff on Fox Business? Maybe they should talk about sports every now and then.

Deadspin live updating the layoffs

Brett McMurphy
Ed Werder
Jeremy Crabtree

Are biggest names canned so far. Also:

Karl Ravech, Ryen Russillo, and Hannah Storm will see their roles “significantly reduced.”

Viewership is declining because of cord cutting. Hell sports radio is dying a slow death. Mainly because people don't want to hear the same old takes throughout the day.

I would love to see what the MSB would produce for espn because I highly doubt the content would be any better than what's on their now.

This is admittedly the only LSU sport I care a lot about and he butchers it. He doesn't know the game; he doesn't understand what he's watching; he doesn't know anything about situational plays. Hell, 2 weeks ago he was calling for Watson to be benched just to get Romero on the field when Watson at the time had our highest SEC batting average and was in the middle of a 12-game hitting streak. He's fricking clueless.

One thing I'm learning from this thread is that I legit have not consistently watched ESPN in quite some time.

I've only recognized a couple of names on the fired list and I have to take the board's word on how bad some of the people staying are because I've never seen their shows.

If a lot of people are similar, ESPN is in deep shot no matter what because sports viewing in general would be plummeting. And I've got Tigerdroppinhs to supply my spicy hot take fix on all manners of topics.

The Cowboys training facility won't be the same without Ed. Every time something newsworthy about the Cowboys has come up in his many years, Ed has been right there camping out getting the scoop. I have always thought he was a damn good reporter and I hope he catches on somewhere.

Everybody hates ESPN pundits and rightly so but their ridiculous NFL and NBA contracts are the main culprits for why ESPN has been struggling in recent years.
dude they pay these ex athletes way too much money for what is at best contributing roles and they're not any good and they're not attracting viewers

You think those contracts are the only instances in which that company is mismanaged? It's top to bottom.

The 3 local sports shows are seeing exponential growth right now. WTF are you talking about?
