I didn't know former posters around here worked as marketing executives

@TXFBLife
This is the listed address of Bishop Sycamore, the school Duncanville is playing on 9/10. It appears to be a duplex. The other address listed on their MaxPreps accounts lists the Franklin University library building as an address.

To be fair here, ESPN is more of a victim here. A stupid victim, but a victim nonetheless.

Does ESPN not even Google search? This team played last year and went 0-6 getting blown out in every game. Lol. There’s a web site that tracks every Ohio high school football game and shows their record here: Joe Eitel The funniest thing is they played IMG Academy last year and lost 56-6.

There was a whole thread on the varsity forum of prepgridiron.com about how sketchy they were for months leading up to their first game on August 19th

This story just gets better.

An "online only" school has a football team with guys over the age of 20.

Reading so many stories on Bishop Sycamore today, so let me share this one – They played a defender on Sunday that’s originally a 2020 from Florida. Kid has reported over two dozen fake offers. Showed up once to a 7v7 tryout and used a fake ID. His HUDL is also fake. Amazing.

quote:

After publishing Sunday's article, multiple sources confirmed to me that players aged 20 and older commonly play for Sycamore.

"A high school coach came up to me at one of our camps and said, 'Hey, that corner over there used to be on my 7-on-7 team," one Power 5 recruiting staffer told me. "He had to stop playing because his ID said he was 21 years old."

So this is like some Rec league team of random dudes posing as H.S. students?

From this story that keeps getting wilder:

There has never been a Bishop Sycamore

They played two games in three days

Their head coach currently has an ACTIVE arrest warrant

Most of the players are JUCO dropouts who are nowhere near HS age

Using the a fake name “Bishop” is genius. These dudes just figured out a way to get paid and travel around and play football against high schoolers

Don’t think of IMG, Mater Dei, Bosco as the great high school teams of the past
lol why do you keep trying to lump Mater Dei and Bosco with IMG?

Mater Dei and Bosco are no different than any other catholic school in California

I guess I don't understand how there's never been a Bishop Sycamore but this Dame team played IMG last season, along with 5 other games?

I think he means that they are 100% not a school of any kind, and never have been, and their scam made it to game #8 before someone caught on.

Now parents of former Bishop Sycamore players are talking.

This dad sounds like an idiot and one of those parents who believes his son is the best football player ever but never got a chance. Regardless, he gives some insight into how fraudulent this all is.

Probably not if they use an outside entity to put the matchups together. It's a random HS football game, it's not that high on the pecking order.

They saw IMG and saw $$$$$. Anything the opponent brings is gravy.

What I want to see is a Bishop Sycamore vs Higgins matchup… they’d beat Grace King but any 5A Louisiana playoff team would eat them alive

Dad just seems like a guy who thinks his son is gonna be an NFL star.

How come nobody addresses the school situation itself? Are there actually any online courses? I can understand some JUCO dropouts playing along for some cash, but a kid who is in HS that enrolls at the school…? Did they send him a course list? Anything?

To be fair, IMG agreed to the game. You would guess that a school like that would check to make sure it's opponent is legit and not a group of felons or something.

Disney is a top 30 global company by market cap.

I don’t care where this game is in the pecking order, them letting this happen is shocking, an embarrassment and an indication that the team running ESPN is doing a half-assed job.

I would seriously consider firing high level executives over this. A well-run organization wouldn’t allow this to happen. This game was on ESPN not ESPN+ or ESPN the Ocho - main ESPN.
