All told, the much-ballyhooed program with Mike Greenberg, Michelle Beadle, and Jalen Rose was down nearly 18% year-over-year versus SportsCenter for the month of April, while also dragging down the viewership for First Take, which had been making incremental gains for months but finished April down over 6% versus 2017.

Even though it is still early and Get Up should reasonably be expected to get through the Super Bowl to see if it can find its footing, it’s a very bad sign that it is posting these numbers at the start of the NBA playoffs. According to Austin Karp of the Sports Business Journal, aggregate NBA playoff ratings are up 2% versus last year. This should mean that discussion should not be seeing double-digit declines, especially on a program where two-thirds of the main panelists are directly connected with NBA bumper programming.

I am not going to be a mob idiot, but at some point the "cord cutters mob" crowd needs to realize ESPN has been absolutely horrific with some of their decisions to try and slow the bleeding

the morning show needs a more intriguing and likable color guy than Jalen Rose.

How about ESPN wisen up and resize that the same people will watch ESPN no matter what. The same bars and chain restaurants are going to have it on 14 hours a day.

Hire cheap on air talent for SportsCenter and call it a day. They don’t have to have debate shows to push the envelope

I like Rose.

I just am not a fan of the talk show format like this one. I like waking up and putting on SC on my TV. I can see/listen to highlights from the previous evening.

I'm not some too-cool-for-school posters around here...I do still like ESPN for the most part. Sure, First Take is awful, but I still enjoy catching as much of AtH or PTI in the afternoons (way more the latter than the former), even if only to get a list of sports stories for the day.

I have been watching Get Up a couple times per week after being a Mike & Mike viewer for years. IMO it is the better of the two shows. I like Beadle and Greenie is good when he talks exclusively sports, but Jalen seems in over his head.

I am not going to lie I watch. They seem to hit on multiple sports and have different guests on. Not bad background noise while getting ready and drinking my coffee.

Jalen isn’t terrible but I wonder how these core hosts translate to football season

In other news, ratings for the afternoon Sportscenter are up compared to last year.

Imagine that, dropping Jemele and Michael gave them a ratings boost

Who could have guessed that would happen

Simply put and great post. People don’t watch Espn, they have it on.

Well I'm not a huge Michelle Beadle fan; never have been really. She's okay I guess, but I don't need to see her on my TV every morning. They could've done much better for a show like this.

ESPN isn't smart though, or at least they choose not to be. If they did a show similar to this but had more likable, knowledgeable people, it would be more likely to be a hit.

Give me a show like this with SVP and some knowledgeable (key word...not someone like SAS) black person of their choice...then throw in some Linda Cohn or Jackie MacMullan as the female personality, and I'd watch it every day. But they won't ever do that.

I don't hate the show at all.

And doesn't it usually take shows a little while to get their ratings up?

I actually don't hate the show either, even if I don't care for any of the hosts.

I especially dislike Jalen Rose but its no big deal.
