Yeah Bucs did some sketchy shite that cost him his eligibility i believe
Took him on their private jet. Told Bo that the NCAA had cleared everything. Bo got back to auburn and found out that the NCAA ruled him ineligible for receiving improper benefits.

How was Baltimore's behavior any different in the case of Elway? Elway let them know well in advance he would not play for them. Baltimore had better offers for Elway than what they got from Denver, they turned them down. They could have traded the draft pick for Elway and drafted Marino even at the 26th pick. Baltimore had many ways out, but Irsay refused to consider them.
Everything is different. Bo actually went to visit TB, and that is how TB ended up messing up his eligibility for baseball. After that Bo wouldn't play for TB. Before that, he was clearly going to play football for the team that drafted him.

DId Baltimore lie to Elway and cheat him out of finishing his baseball career at Stanford?
quote:LINK How did Jackson pay for these trips? Having them paid for by others would have been a violation of the same rule that eventually got him declared ineligible.
In the program, Jackson elaborated on how and why he believes the Buccaneers sabotaged him. “I expected to play football at the professional level, and I had taken a few trips to visit some teams during baseball season of my senior year,” Jackson recalled.
Bo Jackson was not declared ineligible to play college baseball by the NCAA. The NCAA allowed athletes to be professional in one sport and remain amateur in others. It was the SEC that declared Jackson ineligible as they did not allow athletes to be professionals in one sport and remain amateurs in others. Just ask Billy Cannon, Jr.
quote:LINK From a July 14, 1986 article, just a little more contemporaneous with events.
According to Auburn baseball coach Hal Baird, Bo was especially miffed that he lost his remaining college baseball eligibility last season when Tampa Bay flew him to Florida on March 25 for a physical. The flight was in violation of SEC rules. Phil Krueger, a Bucs executive, insists that the team checked with the conference to make sure it was O.K. Further, he says it was Jackson who requested that a private plane be sent for him, and it was sent.

So it was totally different than Elway's situation.
And as for this, I'm sorry. I'll take Bo's word over an NFL exec that he spurned any day of the week.

I've read a lot of opinions about Dan Marino, but this is easily the silliest thing I've ever seen.
Truth hurts.

I don't get all the hate for Elway...he didn't want to play for a bad team with an a-hole coach and a crazy owner...there was an unstable situation with the team possibly moving and he made up a bad excuse so he wouldn't be required to throw the team under the bus...
He had leverage not to play there and he used it...he was straightforward with the team and gave them plenty of notice...it is not his fault they botched the trade...it's the same as calling a free agent a douche for leaving a team for more money.
And...whoever is blaming him for the colts leaving Baltimore is wrong...they were leaving regardless because of much bigger issues than Elway.

no, its not. Hence the whole "free agent" term.

Best QB ever may be up for debate. But this is not. The discussion starts at second best after Dan Marino

When you couldn't win ONE Super Bowl -- you aren't even in the discussion

There are at least 7-10 QBs I'd take over Dan Marino.

Semantics...He hasn't signed with anyone prior to the draft...he is free to sign or not to sign if he doesn't like the team choice...
Why doesn't everyone hate on Eli Manning? He did the same thing without the baseball leverage.
When Elway did it, it was "just not done"...now few people would have an issue with a great player trying to go someplace they would prefer if they had the wherewithal...
