"Equality" is the most popular social justice message players have chosen to display on the back of their NBA jerseys during the league's upcoming restart, National Basketball Players' Association executive director Michele Roberts told ESPN's The Undefeated on Wednesday. "Black Lives Matter" is second.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 285 of the expected 350 eligible NBA players have decided to pick social justice messages to put on their jerseys while 17 have opted to continue to use their names instead, Roberts told The Undefeated. Although the soft deadline was Monday, she added that the NBPA is still waiting for more players to make a final decision.

there also will be social justice messages on jerseys in languages other than English, including Slovenian, Italian, French Creole, Latvian, Mori, Hebrew, Bosnian and Portuguese.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard and NBPA executive director Chris Paul plans to have "EQUALITY" on the back of his jersey. "I chose Equality because it reminds us that in order to have real impact and change, we need to make a conscious effort to level the playing field and create systems that are not bias based on race, education, economics or gender," Paul told The Undefeated.

Equality matters.

The players don’t even realize what they want is equity, not equality. Pro athletes are such clowns. Can’t believe they get a platform to this extent

Metta World Peace was so far ahead of his time. He should get royalties on jersey sales.

So the NBA players want a 50/50 equal split of Caucasian and Black players on the rosters?

Says a player in a league where 75% of the players are black

create systems that are not bias based on race, education, economics or gender
In 2020 it's hard to see how the bolded are being biased against, most of the time it is education and economics confused as racial bias. The poor and uneducated tend to put a higher priority on material things or instant feel good as opposed to prioritizing education. For the most part education begets a prosperous economic situation which allows for a perceived easier life. A lot of the perceived gender bias is simply due to capitalism, especially in sports. Other than volleyball, gymnastics, and ice skating male sports have a higher revenue than their female counterparts. Outside of sports a lot of the "gender bias" is due to; either poor negotiating tactics (studies have shown women are more likely to choose security vs taking a bigger risk), skillset (some occupations that pay well favor masculine builds and mindsets), or the amount of time off taken ( studies show that women in the US tend to take more time off over a career than their male counterparts (vacation, sick, maternity...).
Nothing in this country will fix the current "system" unless people accept responsibility for their role in fixing it. The US isn't perfect, but the government can't pass a magic bill that will fix our issues. White guilt won't magically fix the US. Male feminists won't fix the US. There will always be those who get ahead in life with the same tools as others because they work harder to make it happen. In turn their kids will get a head start. Punishing that person and/or their children for not sticking to the status quo would be a true injustice.

The pandering is pathetic. It’s a “movement” all based on lies and false narratives. Absolutely no statistics or logic allowed.
All reasonable human beings are laughing at these idiots.

I'm seeing that cash is how people think we can achieve "Equality." Isn't that part of the idea behind reparations?
I'd guess that the NBA players giving some percentage of their 7.7 million average salary to poor people can help make others equal in at least one regard.

I mean, his ignorance is sad and inexcusable, but this response is so good

Since he is such a huge proponent of equality in economics, I wonder if CP3 is also willing to reduce his salary so every player is paid the same

I consider myself a moderate that leans right, and hung out with family members in DC this weekend (they live there), who identify as democrats. We all agreed that what is going on is ridiculous. Surely the vast majority of people in this country feel the same way, and the media is focusing on a small number of people who have radical views.

Seriously, no one cares. But it’s not just you. The Saints board is full of people saying they aren’t watching football while still talking about football.

so title ix, affirmative action, companies giving managers bonus for hiring anyone but a white male, , colleges accepting minorities with lesser qualifications than the standard, things like that you want to get rid of CP3?
Explain to me the "systems" that are bias towards white males, and make it harder for everyone else.

Any guess on the 17 that didn’t pick one?
