Two seasons removed from an appearance in the Class 5A state championship game and just three weeks before the start of a new football season, Ehret coach Corey Lambert has been dismissed, Lambert confirmed early Thursday morning.

quote:

"The superintendent (Isaac Joseph) waited until (former Ehret coach and principal) Ray St. Pierre died" to make the decision.

Lambert also was relieved of his duties as the school's assistant principal. It was not immediately clear on who would take over as Ehret's interim football coach. Lambert was 40-20 over five seasons of work, and it appeared the Patriots were primed to have possibly their best season yet.

Was it just one female student or do we think it was a string?

I don't know the details. I just know that a couple of years ago I was told by a former head football coach in that parish that Lambert was making enemies with everyone because of his brash personality. He is a hell of a football coach but with a hell of an ego.

Is there anything douchier than a cocky high school coach? A college or pro coach, I get that there might be an ego. But high school? Ridiculous.

Was his ego that big prior to winning though?

I'll see your JUCO coach and raise you the Little League coach who screams at his kids like every game is game 7 of the World Series.

Spring of 1989 I was a junior at WM. 6'3" 185 lbs and didnt play football as did most of us. There were only 39 players on varsity. Shows would stand in the main hall in the school and would grab us by the arm as we walked by and tell us we were going to come for football. Too late because the prior coach had run the program into the ground with only 3 wins the prior 2 seasons. He was 5'6" with a ego over 7 ft tall. The man would walk by the average WM fan and not say a word...just a total prick, but he won and won big.

Wow wtf? Hope there was a good reason to do that on the first day of practice for many schools.

I went to go talk to him at a game at Hoss Memtas in the visitors stands once when we were playing somebody else and he was pretty aloof.

Wonder what their old coach had to do with this? I know they just got a new principal there too...
