A lot of former and current players are going at Schefter. Also people in the media.

No, for being a tone deaf douche.

And rightly so.

No one is sayin his death isnt tragic/sad. It is. Its horrible. But again, the only reason this is news is bc he played football. And shefter mentioned his career, and people are up in arms. No one saying he deserved to die bc he was a shitty football player.

Here is @Gil_Brandt on NFL radio when asked about Dwayne Haskins.
“He was a guy that was living to be dead.”
“It was always something” with Haskins
“Maybe it he stayed in school a year he wouldn’t do silly things [like] jogging on a highway.”

Jesus Christ.

Yeah he's done. He needs to retire anyway, he's in his mid-80's.

So you’d rather it just not get reported?

Maybe game 3 next year everyone is looking around wondering where Dwayne Haskins went and why he’s not playing?

It’s big news because an NFL QB died. There aren’t that many of them. And it was reported by a news organization that is, this may be hard to believe, geared towards sports.

The whole "Well the only reason it's talked about is because they're an athlete/celeb" crowd always cracks me up.

Like new organizations haven't covered this as long as news organizations have been in existence. The kid played for a major college program and was a known NFL player. Of course ESPN is going to talk about it.

Not a Gil fan and he's been awful forever but also - he's NINETY and sounds worse than Biden when he talks. How in the world is he still working?

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed to CBS News Miami that the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a dump truck on I-595 early Saturday morning was Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

FHP said Haskins was walking on a “limited access facility for unknown reasons.”

“He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of I-595 when there was oncoming traffic.”

“Unfortunately, he was struck by an oncoming dump truck,” authorities said.

We might very well find out that he just finished up a night of partying and was trying to walk home for some reason

No, the point is that it is news bc he plays football, which is fine. But everyone is up in arms crying bc shefter mentioned his football career in tweet. When in reality shefter wouldnt even mention his death if not for football. That IS THE POINT

Its just weird to me.

Say Schefty gets hit by a car and the news said:

"Schefter, a standout at The Denver Post before struggling to get on with ESPN and the NFL Network, died today..."

Schefter has made horrible tweets that show no compassion in the past. I wouldn’t mind seeing him end up cancelled at some point.

Not insulting if that's part of his biography, but Schefty isn't remembered for that . When Scott Norwood dies he'll be remembered for missing a game winning FG in the Super Bowl for the Bills. Not an insult to Scott, but a part of his biography.

The dude is a robot. That tweet was as if Haskins was just cut from a team. I don't think he realizes how bad it is until he gets called out on it

So he wasn’t out of his vehicle after an accident and was actually just trying to run across the interstate?

Scott Norwood was killed in an accident this morning........ Ex Bills kicker who missed the game winning FG in Super Bowl XXV .

That's going to be a part of Norwoods public obituary.
