You’re telling me that soothing the feelings of butt hurt college football fans who have finally learned that this stuff isn’t really special, it’s just another business, and that they never really had any sense of tangible ownership in it, it was all an illusion carried on 50 years past its expiration date by tradition, and are throwing a temper tantrum about it is equivalent to Teddy Roosevelt busting trusts and monopolies? ROFLMAO.

The judiciary doesn’t just up and decide to “get involved.” A lawsuit was filed pitting different parties/interests against each other in a rather consequential clash, necessitating the courts involved to make decisions based on a likely wide array of factors, including but not limited to statutory law and case law. It only makes sense to have to let the results of whatever such a decision would be settle in, then seek adjustments if and where necessary via the appropriate procedure and avenues. Pretty straightforward process, if you ask me. A quintessential American process at that.

Are you aware of how examples work, and why examples are even necessary at times??

**If you have a different “better” example you’d prefer, be my guest. There are many. If you can’t think of any, then I can’t do anything for you. Furthermore, if you even took that as an offering of a exact parallel or equivalent example, once again, I can’t help you.

My bottom line is I don’t have a problem with anything that is going on in the sport right now except the wide-open portal. Fix that and the sport will be fine. And fixing that will take a negotiated contractual agreement with the players, not someone imposing it. The players should have had a bigger share of the pot a generation ago.

I don’t have some huge problem with any of it personally, I can just simply see it running off the rails sooner than later, and I can certainly see that being to the notable detriment of any number of collateral “parties” or “interests” that/who IMO require some level of “protection.”

**And one thing I note in this overall discussion is the seeming lack of attention or awareness of the other side of NIL…..revenue sharing. That most certainly does directly involve the schools themselves.

Trump cares more and knows about sports since any president dating back to Ford.

Best how? You could spend a trillion dollars a year on NOLA schools, and the results would still be horrific because the students suck.

Then the fed govt gets involved due to interstate commerce.

No he’s not, the money is not coming from the colleges general fund. Boosters pay a lot and TV networks buy billions for broadcast rights.

It’s amazing people continue to think the problem with schools is we don’t spend enough money

Btw Orleans Parish budget was $650M in 2024 i don’t think LSU football gets that much from boosters

Yeah, it’s hard to take him or any of the people in this thread agreeing with him seriously when the most basic facts are ignored in forming the foundation of his “point”

None of you are the least bit aware of the revenue sharing aspect of the House case and how that’s affected other lesser university sports. And yes, it is paid directly by the university to the athlete. And it’s an extreme amount of money per year…..if your university can afford it. Hence the extreme moves by various universities to make every week a lucrative marquee game - from which more revenue is derived.

ETA….Full disclosure, I didn’t know much on the topic myself, until I actually checked into it and educated myself, somewhat.

it is frustrating that a state like Louisiana has its rich folk sending tens of millions of dollars to a football program, while the university itself is horribly underfunded with dorm shortages, leaking libraries, etc

So two of the top 10 paid college football players made the playoffs.

K, again, then I guess any government intervention in the area of men playing women’s sports should be a no-go too, right?

Can you even explain why you strangely find that side splitting hilarious, as you openly demonstrated there? Because I ain’t gonna lie, it comes across as pretty weird. I mean, disagreeing is one thing, and perfectly acceptable, but maniacally hilarious? Help us out here.

Wait until he hears about high school NIL with some players making over $1M a year-and it’s not permitted in all states, thank goodness.

a. That's BRAND new

b. Did you miss the "revenue" part of that? It's coming from revenue generation and not school funding. The mathematics department isn't going to get TV money under pretty much any circumstance, and if there are no sports, there is no sports revenue.
