This list has him #5 on the list of Greatest Laker...ahead of Wilt. So it's safe to say Kobe is not Top 5 in the NBA.

Because a random website has Kobe as the 5th greatest Laker, he can’t be top 5 in the NBA.

He’s not top 5 but that’s some terrible logic

It sort of depends on the criteria, but if you count a player who played for the Lakers, I think the Lakers have a good case for 5 of the top ten all time.

LeBron, Magic, Kareem, Wilt and then West, Shaq or Kobe. Being a top 5 alltime Laker basically definitely puts you in the top 15 and possibly top ten in the whole NBA.

Top 20. I personally would not go top 10.

That said, yes, in the immediate aftermath of an untimely death, emotion absolutely will play a role for a lot of people.

This

Objectively, it's really not THAT hard to list 10 guys who were better than Kobe.

He's in that 15 ish range.

Greatest Laker =/= Greatest player who wore a Lakers uniform

Kobe and Magic are in their own tier as greatest Lakers of all time imo. You could probably put West in that group as well when you factor in his time as GM

Then when you open it up to greatest players to have played for the Lakers, obviously Lebron, Kareem, Shaq and Wilt are factored in

People have been calling him goat so yes. No where near the goat conversation of anything, but he is solidly in the top 10-15 conversation.

Don't forget Karl Malone, Gary Peyton, and 2 time MVP Steve Nash.

You are out of your mind.

How would you rank the following 3 players?
Bird
Magic
Kobe

If you rank Kobe last. Name 3 players not named Michael Jordan & Lebron James who is better than Kobe.

MJ, LeBron, Magic, Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Bird, Duncan, Shaq and Olajuwon/Dr. J.

Kobe is in a next tier with Malone, Dirk, West, Durant, Baylor, Garnett, Robinson, Ewing, etc.

Heck, Durant has exceeded Kobe's alltime best season PER three times and Kobe's second best season PER six times.

Kobe is a great player, don't get me wrong, but when you really compare objectively, he isn't top ten.

Jordan is widely accepted as the GOAT, and Kobe is as close to Jordan as we'll ever see.

Jordan, Lebron, Wilt, Shaq and Kareem were better than Kobe.

Kobe is in the next tier with Magic, Bird, Duncan, Olajuwan, etc.

Bird, Magic and Shaq to an extent didnt enjoy the longevity or sustained peak that the others did.

I think it’s pretty easy to say he’s the 2nd best 2 Guard of all time. I’d put him right around #10 for all players....and could easily see someone’s perspective for as low as 15. And I’m a huge Kobe fan. Lower than 15 is absurd.

Nobody hardcore or casual fans have Dr J above Kobe for good reason. Duncan is debatable.

I like how people shite on Bill Simmons and turn around immediately and use his opinion as one that matters

To be fair he knows more about the history of the NBA than 99.99% of public. So there is that.
