Of course, it is a no brainer.

Rose- posthumously
As far as Jackson he was eligible for the HOF for over 50 years and the sports writers never voted him in. What to we know now, that they didn't know back then?

What? He received the exact same punishment as Rose. Unless you think the BBWAA interpreted "lifetime ban" literally, but chose to not elect him after his death for some reason.
In which case, why would they allow in Rose, an admitted gambler who lied about it for almost 30 years, posthumously.

The HOF didn't make banned players ineligible until the 90's.
Shoeless Joe was first eligible for the Hall in 1936, he got 2 votes.
1st HOF class
After the sport's writers' rejection, the Veteran's committee for decades, despite Ted William's pleas, also passed him over.
From 1936, until 50+ years later Jackson was eligible for the Hall.

What does lying have to do with it? All Steroid users lied, some before a court of law.

Just out of curiosity, how did Rose ever get caught for gambling in the first place?

No way - ever. Too much sentimentality here where their shouldn't be. Pete Rose is not some great dude people should be rooting for.
He bet on his own team . . . as a player/manager, as early as 1986. While I don't think there was any evidence he bet against his team, he did bet on his team, which carries all kinds of implications.
He will always lie about it. You have to understand he was dealing with the mob as well. The larger picture, concerning the purity of the game, is huge here.
While his records deserves mention in the HoF, the game deserves better than that guy.

Gambling < Steroid
Gambling can just happen once at the spur of the moment...
Steroid use takes a concious effort each and every use and physical training program after to change your physiology to play better in the game.
Enough of each, though, and they are similar.

I can't see anyone breaking that hits record.

Stupid question is stupid.

Officially, but that doesn't mean that there wasn't an agreement to not put people on the banned list in. It's not like the sports writers or Veteran's committee had some special insight to the situation.
There is no proof that Jackson took money to throw the series, discussed taking money to throw the series, or made any attempt to throw the series. In fact, there's evidence and testimony to the contrary.
Kennesaw Landis was an arse, and there's plenty of proof for that.

If all he did was bet on his team to win, then the integrity of the game should not be in question. The integrity of Vegas betting lines can be called into question. If Pete placed a bet that day, then he felt confident about his team. If he didn't place a bet, then the people in the know might have perceived it as Pete knowing something the general gambling community didn't know.
