Does anyone else not like the lead up to the NFL Draft?

Like, none of them really know which team will draft a player. We don't know for sure who will pan out for another 3-5 years. What is the appeal of ESPN filling air time to talk about mock drafts?

I just wish the mainstream shows would talk more about other positions. They talk about the top 5 QB’s incessantly. The same exact segments over and over about Fields vs Mac Jones, but never a mention about talented guys that won’t go top 10-15 like Terrace Marshall. Also basically zero talk of any defensive players.

I love it and can’t get enough of the rumors and speculation. Only day better used to be the old college football NSD. Inject that shite into my veins.

Simple consumers love that shite instead of the obscure yearlong sports ESPN was originally made for. Personally I'd love to learn more about Australian rules football since their season just began but the country would rather listen to a dozen different heads play choose your own adventure about rookies for a league starting in five months.

You can make this argument about literally any type of sports coverage outside of highlights packaging

I never liked how they started the draft hype commercials in January for something 3+ months away.

Mock drafts and preseason polls are the low-hanging fruit for the media to satiate the pleb consumers.

I love the draft and draft talk. Would much rather hear about that than the NBA .

Trevor Lawrence to Jacksonville and then work from there...

they want fans to think they're the right pick away from a dynasty

I avoid the generic 1st round draft talk. I prefer to focus on WRs like Marshall or the big group of OTs that will be drafted on day 2.

Undersized cover safeties and slot corners are another rabbit hole I’ll go down. Those types of players don’t get the headlines, but drafting the right one can have a big impact on the future of a franchise.

Local radio talks about it nonstop daily. I am definitely happy when it passes.

You're not wrong, but QB is the money position and the one the casual fans pay the most attention to.

It's more entertaining than the actual draft, where they show you a bunch of fake Chargers fans all wearing their brand new gear and acting like they won the Super Bowl because they just drafted a guard from Arizona State.

The whole process is phony.

I think the average draft predicter gets about 7 right every first round. Which should bring people back to that "trained monkey" thing very quickly.
