Despite the reputation, my interactions with their fanbase (as a Broncos fan) have been nothing but good natured fun.

They really do deserve better, but the Davis Family is the OG poster child of meddlesome ownership.

Until last year, the Lions had one playoff win in like 65 years!

I wonder who even really roots for the Raiders now. Vegas is such a transient city, the Raiders have been in Oakland and L.A., it has to be a weird hodgepodge.

Didn’t Gruden actually have them on a good path before the email bullshite?

And on top of all of that, they moved them away from their fan base. Awful

A lot of their issues now started with some really bad drafts when Gruden was there. Mayock was the GM but I think he had a lot of influence over personnel decisions

I feel like organizational ineptitude is at an all time high in the NFL. The Raiders are so poorly run but it kind of flies under the radar post Gruden compared to others.

Yep, the team hasn't recovered from that. And they've decided to keep AP for another year so they'll suck again next year.

I just hope Brady makes a lot of changes. It was a complete disaster in Al Davis' last years and hasn't improved much with his son.

The first round picks were busts, but they did well in the later rounds.

I think Gruden got the most out of that roster but I don’t think that setup was going to lead to any sort of measurable success. They did fine in the later rounds but the miss rate on early picks left them no chance to have a good NFL roster

That’s not the only reason things have bottomed out since then but it’s a pretty big factor

Gruden was average to below average during his second stint there, I think it’s a bit revisionist to say they were on a great path with him and Mayock. Lot of draft misses

Going after McDaniels was obviously a massive mistake, compounded by the quick pull on the McDaniels era, it’s not a surprise to me that they are stuck with the Antonio pierce level candidates. If you’re a top candidate, hard to get too excited about that job when the last two big name coaches got unceremoniously canned overnight mid season, and deserved or not that’s not super appealing

As a lifelong Saints fan, I can relate. Like the Raiders, at least we had a taste of the good life.

As someone who lives in the jaguar's blackout radius, i do not feel an iota of sympathy for them.

Jerruh took this mantle from Al long ago and is leaps and bounds ahead of Mark Davis. Davis still sucks, though. I suspect one day Stephen Jones will take over and the current Raiders are what Cowboys fans have to look forward to.

Eta: leaps and bounds ahead at being shitty

Haven’t LV raiders only existed for a few seasons?

I actually think he did a good job. It’s been said that Gruden handled the first 2-3 rounds then turned the draft her to Mayock. If you look at the years they were in Vegas, the later rounds were where they had success. It was the Gruden picks that were a complete disaster.

I don't understand how a team that has moved cities four times in the past 45 years even has any fans who could possibly be invested enough to care. I wouldn't get too attached, I'm sure they'll leave Las Vegas for some other dry, hot, and overcrowded west coast city in about 15-20 years.

No one is saying it was great, but he had them competing. And they were a fun watch. I'll take that over this horrible product we have right now.
