Curious to know if there’s any women’s sports team/league in existence that doesn’t operate at a net loss.

The WNBA is essentially a charity and the Women’s NCAA tournament costs less than half the Men’s tournament to operate and still loses millions.

Besides Olivia Dunne who people actually want to see, Women’s sports should be thankful for crushing social pressure and 24/7 nonstop promotion from ESPN or they probably wouldn’t exist past the high school level.

For your trouble:

I know women's leagues overseas pay more, like Japan for softball and Russia for basketball. Whether those leagues actually turn a profit or the owners are just willing to pay more despite taking a loss, I'm not sure.

Someone posted a while back that the Russian women's basketball leagues weren't very profitable, but were more of a dick measuring contest for the oligarchs.

I would assume that the LPGA and Women's pro tennis turn profits... but that might just be a bad assumption.

Women’s tennis makes profits at some tournaments. It is heavily dependent on the sponsors and the sponsors wanting to pay for the events and then continue to pay for them. Some do not make sense and no longer exist. Tv money helps the tour. I assume the LPGA is similar.

I assume the answer to this is zero, but I could've sworn I read somewhere years ago that Tennessee WBB used to make money 15-20+ years ago when Pat Summitt was in her heyday.

But honestly, a lot of men sports lose money as well. So it stands to reason that pretty much all women sports would too since they generally have a lot less support.

Most make money. Not many turn a profit.

I'd say Nebraska's WVB program does - they constantly sell out their arena to the point that they're hosting a game in Memorial Stadium next year and are expected to seat over 75k for it.

WVB > any other womens sport btw. Those shorts are gnarly.

The money looks a lot different on the women's side. While women's basketball is often the third-highest revenue generator for athletic departments, behind football and men's basketball, they still trail both by a considerable margin.
