This would all have already gone away if Doc could just refrain from commenting. He's a fricking NBA coach. It's weird that an analyst seems to be getting under his skin.

I understand this. BUT BS is TOTAL BS. A POS who THINKS he knows shite...... Typical NERD LOSER....... Never made a three pointer in his life yet thinks HE can tell when an NBA coach quits....

because he's the most popular personality ESPN has. He wrote a bestselling book on basketball and basketball is his passion which plays well in print and on TV.

Jalen and Bill are the best thing to happen to ESPN's NBA coverage in 10 years.

And he wants Rivers to stick around? BS should realize his Celts are going to suck for the next few years regardless of who's coaching.

Doc did quit on the celtics. Simmons as an analyst or fan is paid by ESPN to give his opinion and did so. He didnt make it personal and kept it to the subject at hand. Doc went into name calling mode.

Because he's a lifelong Boston sports fan. He's pissed because Rivers quit on the celtics. It's common knowledge that Rivers didn't want to be part of rebuilding in Boston, he left for the clippers. Simmons basically just wants him to admit that is why he left. That is the jest of it.

ETA: Simmons didn't need to use the live draft as a forum for his feelings on the matter.

SO......... That's how sports is nowadays..... He has earned the right to go to a better gig just like players do ALL THE TIME. Simmons needs to STFU............

Look to be honest, I liked it, I just don't necessarily think that it was the place for it. Maybe in his BS report, or in a column. But on live TV and the draft at that? Maybe he could have watered it down, or sugar coated it like a typical ESPN on air anchor.

I think Doc needs to shut up. He's the one dragging it out.

He doesnt want Rivers to stick around, his whole point was once a coach starts pushing to leave his current situation and coach another team it's over. Either he gets the new job or he takes a year off bc you can't coach a team you quit on. Quit in the since that he didn't want to stick around for a rebuilding project.

Also, the idea that ex players know more about their sports than smart observers or fans is one of the biggest misconceptions in sports. Funnily enough Bill Barnwell, the football analytics writer for Simmons' grant land site just wrote a piece on how flawed the NFL players top 100 is bc they're subject to the same biases as everyone else, often magnified

Doc is right though

Simmons isn't a journalist. He's a fan, and he's open about it.

Not sure why ESPN let's him do TV. Just stick to reality shite and Boston fan boi columns like he used to do.

Funny part part is he could choose to be a great journalist but rather be a fan who beefs with everyone

BS is definitely a journalist, just a biased one. Which, given the state of politics in this country, should really be nothing new to any of us.

The days of unbiased, just-the-facts-reporting, have passed us - especially in sports where it really doesn't matter anyway. Especially at ESPN.

BS gets viewers...just like Stephen A....just like Bayless. The only thing I question ESPN on is why do they only have the mouths (except for Bayless) only talking about the NBA?

I mean, with the state of affairs in the NFL right now, a brash, out-spoken journalist could be having a field day!

Hey look I agree here, so stop jumping me like I am saying everyone is right or wrong. It's his perogative. But at least be up front about it.

Simmons doesn't deserve to get lumped in with bayless and smith. Having strong opinions, like most fans, isn't the same as deliberately picking outrageous stances just to troll viewers and sports fans.

Seems like Simmons is subtly threatening legal action.

Well they are having a dick measuring contest, and since Doc is black, well, I am sure he will win.
