This whole situation is a complete shite show.
Obviously Doc didn't want to be part of a rebuilding project in Boston with only Rondo left on the roster. He had the opportunity to win NOW in LA with a young core group of guys and took it. Big fricking deal, it's a sport where like 40% of the coaches get fired after the season anyway and job security is scarce. If Doc stayed and assisted in the rebuilding project, and for some reason it went south you best believe that he would be out of a job after two seasons if not sooner. He was simply making the best career move for him and I can respect that.
However, he is a coach for a team and Simmons is a pseudo journalist/fanboy and whatever he says should not even warrant a response from Doc.
FWIW I believe Doc still holds a grudge against Simmons for how he constantly ragged on him before the Big 3 came to town. Simmons would constantly mock Doc's coaching ability and find fault with any decision that he made during the course of a game. Obviously, when the Big 3 came to town Simmons became a Doc dick rider and stopped with his incessant criticism.
Simmons was a total a-hole on TV last night plain and simple. Throughout middle/high school I would read every column he wrote for ESPN Mag religiously, and he quickly became my favorite sports writer. However, in recent years he has become a personality that I absolutely cannot stand due to his self righteousness. The fact that he is threatening Doc with legal action does not surprise me one bit because this is the man that he has become in recent years
Now he reminds me of an attention whore who is eerily similar to his arch nemesis, Keith Olbermann, and not the dude he would write the best column in ESPN Mag every month.
TLDR: Both sides are assholes. Doc should have been the bigger man and Simmons should get a fricking grip and check himself.

Then you must have had some serious offers out of high school, right? If not to play basketball, probably a bunch of track and field?
