Do you think Adam Schefter will be fired if Tom Brady not retire?

Looks like the timing of the news is strange.
There are NFL playoff games this week. NFL does not want this kind of distractions. Tom Brady should know this also.

>>>
According to AP and The Athletic, Tom Brady informed the Bucs that he hasn't made a decision on retirement.

Tom still can play.

Brady’s done. I just think he wanted to announce it himself.

ESPN’s website is still running it as a sure thing. Big blown up picture and headline. They’ve got a lot of credibility on the line by standing by Schefter. Perhaps Schefter will be vindicated?

Schefter nailed it. It's just that when the news broke, Brady wanted to be the one to announce it, is all.

Hell, Brady's Twitter even announced it as well.

Also why did everyone forget CBSSports saying yesterday that he was retiring? If anything Schefter is late.

0% chance shefter gets fired.

20% chance Brady plays one more year just because people reported him retiring before he got to do it.

This is kind of a bigass report and I think there's a ton of smoke to it, for ESPN to conspire to fabricate this on short notice with its top NFL insider sounds preposterous and they haven't retracted it yet despite the denials from Brady Sr. At this point, it's likely accurate.

Can Schef even get fired?

He’s a liberal and his wife died.

He’s literally untouchable unless he tweets the n word and even then I think he could pull of the impossible and claim it was a hack.

He’s a perfect mixture of not famous, important, and thought well of.

ETA: I am wrong about his wife dying

Also his eye liner. He clearly wears liner doesn’t he?

His wife didn’t die. His wife’s first husband died on 9/11 in one of the towers.

It's accurate, but the reason Brady didn't want to announce it is because he didn't want to pull an A-Rod and basically hijack the news cycle right at the peak of the NFL playoffs.

LaCanfora's Friday report basically stated he didn't want to upstage the title games, but that an announcement was coming in "days."

Brady is supposedly out of the country right now in vacation in Costa Rica or somewhere. He was probably going to announce it on the Tuesday or Wed of the Super Bowl bye week when there is a big lull in the action. And it's not game week of the Super Bowl.

I guarantee you Schefter knew who La Canfora's source was and then just got more out of that person and then broke the story, and Brady is/was likely extremely pissed because of the bad timing.

In saying all that, I don't doubt Brady would play an extra season and have the fire re-lit even more just to frick over Schefter and the media.

There are NO consequences for poor journalism. If there were, the profession would be defunct.

A person with a competitive disorder like Brady, MJ, Ali, Federer, etc would do that so I wouldn't be surprised
