I personally think Tom may have told one of the folks in his camp that he's done. But that person leaked the story to Schefter.
Brady didn't expect that to leak, as he was waiting to do like a giant press-conference to announce.
Now I still expect him to do the press conference. But the question is does he go through with retirement. Or play 1 more year as a big frick you to everyone celebrating him leaving the game.

Brady isn’t going to say anything for another week. Saw an article that said he had $15 million of his signing bonus was deferred and is set to payout Feb 4 or 6. He’s not announcing retirement before he gets that money

I don't know. However, instead of immediately running to his laptop and hitting "post," he probably should have asked Brady or the Buccaneers' organization. He has enough clout to do that.

I don’t see how ESPN is sticking with this. Brady’s dad said it was not true. Do they have a better source than that? At a minimum, they should change the wording to “intends to retire”.

I don’t think he has any choice at this point. Withdrawing it now would not be good for his trust level with the public going forward.
