We would have been doing that had we cut ties with the players entirely
If the SEC has no enforcement powers then why should we kiss the ring when no one else did.

At this point LSU is probably done with the SEC. Unless the conference has a come to Jesus moment and apologize and prostrate itself, the school would be stupid to remain in the conference long term. You know there’s no way the admin at LSU is going to be okay with whatever happens in the next two days. Whether they win in federal court tomorrow or if there’s a vote on Thursday, the writing is on the wall. I think at this point there is no way to reconcile and that LSU’ time in the SEC is over. If they stay after all that has happened they should be laughed at. Even if LsU agrees to stay they should be working in the background for an exit or for a complete overhaul of the powers running the conference.

Leaving the SEC likely results in LSU being 2nd tier and left out of the future super conference.
The only way we could maintain our current revenue levels is in the Big10, and there was about a 0% chance they wanted us prior to this stuff.

Thamel reported later Tuesday that it wants LSU to show that “contrition” for the wrongdoings involving the potential playing of those ex-NFL players.
LSU should show contrition to the SEC that it hasn't sued Sankey and the rest of the league into oblivion. It should show contrition it hasn't tried to get Sankey and the person masquerading as Tennessee's chancellor (head of some SEC committee of which no one had ever heard until last week) fired for running their mouths with comments that don't help league solidarity, either..
I don't recall that goober saying word one about all of the routine drag racing Georgia's players conduct that is a menace to the general public and more of a threat than any rostering of NFL players ever would be. Where are his threats about getting Alabama kicked out of the SEC when it ACTUALLY PLAYED a G-League player in league basketball games last season?

This morning I would've said No, but now I think we're out.

The rational play was to cut ties with 2 non-factor players to avoid risking huge consequences. Low risk high reward (compared to the alternative).
They're choosing to play stupid games and may win stupid prizes. High risk low reward. You can try to spin that as not emotional, but it will be a Sisyphean task.

Good lord you're fricking retarded.
Where would get get the similar revenue?
Where would we get the exposure and prestige?
The goal of all the good teams is to join the SEC and Big 10 for the inevitable super conference structure. Getting removed from that club is the opposite scenario.

I just hope everyone acting tough promises not to melt or act like a martyr if this risky play doesn't work and we get punished for it. This is the route you promoted. Live with the consequences.
*ETA: and no whataboutism, obviously.

Unless Sankey is fired I prefer the ACC.
We complied and they still escalated

Oh there are other schools who would like to join the SEC? Shocking news, Ross.
Posted on 9/8/26 at 7:02 pm to SlowFlowPro
SFP, LSU didn’t roster the players and Kiffin said they would comply with the rules.
What the frick are you talking about? What do you want LSU to do or not do, exactly?

Permanently cut ties with the 2 players and hope that ends this.
