Y’all do realize that the Baton Rouge Felines minor league football/basketball team wouldn’t sell many tickets, even if the level of play was equivalent to the current college product? Why would you want to go to that system?

I kinda miss the days of the Southwest Conference, circa 1978-1985. It was a Wild West free-for-all, with money changing hands, cars being bought for recruits, housing for recruit's families being paid for, and hookers being killed in multiples of 5.

You might be surprised. Check out Junior hockey in Canada. It's a big deal.

No. I wouldn't mind seeing it purged hard though and cleaned up. I think this might happen for CBB. 7 on 7 for CFB is next.

This is the real answer. It has simply gotten too big for it's own good.

Not destroyed.

But revamped.

The hypocrisy is epic levels at this point. Everyone is doing the same shite or worse but it's hit and miss targeting by the NCAA or now the FBI.

There's no clean programs (like Lance and cycling) it's just the "got caughts" vs. the "not-got caughts" - football and basketball (and football really turns a blind eye.)

I don't want to see it destroyed but maybe changed up a bit to allow a little more parity. I mean if you think about it, it's pretty lame that the same 5-10 teams are going for the championship every year. These are the ones with the history, the $$$, the fan bases, the best coaches, and best recruits. Sure it's fun to root against Duke and Ohio State but it gets old seeing the same teams dominating year after year. And this is coming from someone whose teams have made bowls/NCAA tournaments pretty much their whole life. I couldn't imagine what older Badgers fans have went through.

I'd like to see AAU Basketball obliterated. The scum involved in that organization has ruined HS Basketball

I've been a huge college football and basketball fan my whole life. A decade ago, this news would have had me upset. Now, I'm kind of meh about it all.

If college basketball and football go down with programs getting the death penalty and/or the sports being wiped out, I don't think I'll be that upset. There's too much money flowing around. It got too big about 8-10 years ago and lost something, in my opinion.

Something will replace it. College sports won't go away. But, I have to say that I wouldn't be too upset to see the whole thing reset and see what comes out of it. It will probably end up being a lot more entertaining. At this point, with the one-and-dones in basketball and just a handful of powers and recruiting being a mess in football, I'd like to see the whole thing come down several notches so it feels like college sports again.

Anyone else feel that way?

No, I don't feel this way at all. College athletics is so much more interesting than the pro variety. If college goes by the wayside, what am I supposed to do, watch NFL? Not happening.

To me, it has lost something, but I think it's me that's changed. I would welcome a much more level playing field across the whole CFB landscape.

There will always be corruption in anything that involves sports and money. If they burn it down, the corruption will just come from a different angle

I wonder if the FBI has anything related to point shaving. No way that just disappeared for eternity after Boston College

Those reminiscing for the "good 'ol days" of it being "clean" are performing some real revisionist history. Plenty of hundred dollar handshakes, just not the means to expose them like we have today (i.e. Social media, internet, etc).

Yeah, how many of them truly appreciate those Notre Dame and Georgia Tech educations?

The Division 3 model has it right.
