Normal, 9 inning baseball, like it’s supposed to be played.

MLB used to have old timers day. Former players playing.

The NBA use to do something like this. I believe it was done on all star weekend.

Americas Cup with real sailboats

Yeah, its a shame they went full NASCAR and homogenized the races to whatever they're sailing in.

Hot Summer Nights on ESPN when they would have waterskiing, jet skiing, volleyball, and other summer sport competitions.

Be nice to see a no weight limit one night UFC tournament to crown the baddest motherfricker like they originally did with original rules etc.

Through the early 70s, Formula One held races that didn't count towards the championship.
I'm not sure exactly when they stopped, but it was common at least up to that point.

Any fifty plus year olds besides me remember Superstars when they were kids? Various athletes compete against each other in ten different events. Each athlete chose seven events out of the ten and you could not compete in your specialty. (Jimmy Connors couldn't compete in tennis, a sprinter couldn't compete in the hundred yard dash, etc.) Probably best known for Joe Frazier almost drowning in the swimming event one year. Also the last event was an obstacle course that almost everyone had a problem with at one point or another.
