I know this is a bit random but just looking at the talent in this league and that fact that he carried that Mavs team (yes he had some timely help and hot shooting from Terry) to a world title beating lakers, thunder, AND heat has still got to be one of the greatest runs ever.

It was one of the best runs ever...it was his time and all of his opponents knew it...incredible how he pulled out game 2 in the finals, then game 4, 5 and 6.

He was incredible but it wouldn't have happened without Chandler.

It really is amazing. Definitely got lucky in that he had Chandler and all of the teams they got through had below average center play at the time.

The whole Mavs Cinderella narrative is a myth.

The Mavs were a dominant 55-18 that year when Dirk played. They were an elite team.

The Mavs were really good that year.

They were the best team in the NBA for a few stretches in the regular season, when Dirk and Chandler were healthy. And they were the best team in the playoffs.

No. The Mavs had pretty much equal amount of free throws for every series. Dallas just had a really high free throw percentage so it looked like they had more. And Dirk would get a lot of attempts because he had the ball the majority of the time.

Dirks run is one of the most impressive ever, right there with Hakeem Olajuwons run.

Pretty sure I pointed this out while it was happening.

The Mavs beat 7 all-NBA players that year. Aldridge, Westbrook, Durant, Bryant, Gasol, James and Wade.

Amazing... we so fricking stacked

I'm not referring to team totals, I'm just referring to the ungodly amount he shot. IIRC, there were games when he had 20+ attempts. That's a lot. I may be inflating the numbers in my mind, though, and I'm too lazy to check.

they also happened to catch the Lakers when they weren't THE Lakers, Thunder when they weren't THE Thunder, and Heat before they were THE Heat

I suppose if the Heat won the title in 2011 it would've made the Mavs beating them more impressive?

hhmm....
